That beat at the end of the trailer when his bike stalls is so awkward. Like they ran out of ideas.

The more I see the more I like it. Lots of wildlife in this trailer we'd not seen. Wolves, cougars, birds, bears. And what looks like an alarm-like freaker. Apparently these rippers (new freaked obsessed cult) fit into the horde system in the sense they worship them and refuse to fight them. So if you lure a horde to one of their camps it makes for interesting viewing. Looks great visially as always. Good release schedule too. Good start to another strong year for sony and far enough from last of us part 2 to be an issue.

I think this will be Sony´s weakest exclusive title (compared to God of War, Spiderman, Tsushima, The Last of Us 2, Death Stranding...) Even that, it will be a good game, I hope.

Maybe. YouTube viewer numbers are crazy high though. As in higher than horizon zero dawn was. I think people underestimate the draw of a well made survival zombie game that looks vaguely like last of us. If state of decay 2 can get 2 million players within a couple weeks I'm pretty sure a game with some actual polish can achieve better. Guess we'll find out in February.

the lighting is strage AF, most of the times its comparable to some UnrealEngine3 visuals. Not that it can't be quite current gen in various cut/scenes, but it has indeed a flat look about it.

That's overcast lighting for ya. I think it looks super realistic. Its the lighting condition that typically makes racing games look the most photorealistic. looks great here too.

a really nice trailer, the facial expressions and the lighting look superb. Days Gone is shaping up to be another great exclusive.

I agree. they have done a great job with the atmospheric lighting.
then again, 'realistic' appears to be rather subjective in this case.

The cutsenes especially look ridiculously good for an open world game. Facial animations are excellent as well. I personally really like how the game looks overall even if there are some rough spots here and there. Still enough time to polish. It's the only first party studio that uses UE4 and not a proprietary engine

The normal 28-30 fps? It will be interesting to see how it handles hordes as the CPU is still shit in both the original and Pro.

About the lighting, it looks like a mix to me, I love the overcast lighting but the nighttime stuff looks a bit cheap. But it often does, also in AAA racing games with great daytime lighting. Good nighttime lighting seems to be actually more difficult, maybe because realtime indirect lighting would be more necessary but is often omitted for performance reasons.

Which is a strange choice given Sony Bend have worked on Naughty Dog's engine before for Uncharted Golden Abyss. Then again, I'd imagine they would get even more "this looks just like TLOU" hate had this open world, dynamic day to night, game been on that engine lol.

@Wheat_Thins Thank goodness Sony studios listened to Mark Cerny at the PS4 reveal when he said it would be best if devs master how to offload CPU tasks to the GPU. Obviously most 3rd party games could never avail of this because Xbone and eSRAM exists.

Reading the previews they have a hell of alot of work to do in the next 8 months. Hope it's great though as love the idea/setting of the game.

not good, that it has a strange lighting. When the last of us 2 showed the bonfire lights at night the thing didn't bounced like this. Yet it isn't really noticeable in other sections/time of day.
