Eidos just announced Death Jr.: Root Of Evil scheduled for this summer on the Nintendo Wii. Once again, you will take the role of The Death teenage son and its friend Pandora while they accidentally free an evil spirit that goes by the name Furi. Cooperation, 19 levels, 60 different monsters, a platform game with 3D elements and humor, the cocktail seems winner to me.

But i think that it's, by now, a pretty well known fact that i bash the Wii whenever i see an opportunity :D
If i'm to fork out 85 buckaroos on a game it'd better both look and play well...effectively eliminating the wii from my roster of consoles.

3 more things.
1. I don't know where you currently live for games to cost 85 dollars.
2. Videogames were originally meant for having fun. The fact that you neglect the Wii so much just because it can't produce Unreal Engine 3 type graphics, doesn't mean it doesn't have good games. It's as if you are saying last gen never existed at all. Did you just all of a sudden stop playing your ps2 games because the ps3 came out?
3. When I mean artistically good I don't necessarily mean realism. I'm assuming you've played at least one cell shaded game in your lifetime. And I'm also assuming you couldn't judge the graphics because it's extremely hard to judge on a cell shaded game.
1. I live in Sweden, a new game usually costs between 550 to 600 sek, translating to roughly 85-95 us dollars. Prices are ridiculous in Sweden, yes.
2. Games are meant to be fun. I never said anything else, but accepting a complete halt in technical development just because the wiimote is supposed to be revolutionary is just crazy. I'd much rather buy a PS2 and play some quality games on that, rather than buying a wii where 90% of the games is pure shovel ware. You know what sets the wii apart form the Xbox and PS2 except for the lack of quality games? The fact that it was released last year. To me the Wii generally offers low quality gameplay, graphics and audio, yet it s only fifty bucks cheaper than a 360. And the wiimote just isn't particularly revolutionary in my eyes, it's just a shitty way of doing what we were already doing back in 85 on the NES.
3. When did i say a game has to look realistic to be pretty? And why couldn't i judge a cellshaded game? Texture quality, polycount and lighting still leave their mark, and that's just the technical aspect of it. On the art side there's loads of stuff to look at.
You make it sound like i hate every game ever made because nothing lives up to my wanting incedible graphics, but...well, all i can say about that is that you need to get of your high horse and stop assuming to know what i'm thinking. The wii sucks because it has a load of shitty games and on top of that is a modded gamecube. If you own a Wii, please do tell what games you play on it except for Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3? All the people i know who had the misfortune of getting a wii still just play Wii Sports and rue every other game purchase they made for it.
My horse died years ago.
1. That's a shame.
2. The most popular console always receives cash ins and shovelware, this gen is no different. I've never met anyone who's actually bought a core/arcade 360 and was truly satisfied with it/didn't eventually upgrade it. The fact that Wii was released last year DOES separate it from last gen consoles because it can't develop a super library of good games in only the first year. No console can.
3.
And about the Wii being the most popular console...well, i can't argue with you if you want to drag sales in there, but i don't think it's regular gamers who buy the Wii first hand. It's those pesky casual gamers, and that's a bit of a differens. Also, i'm pretty sure that i read an article about how poor sales are for third party games on the wii. And as a bonus the attach rate for the wii is down the drain. Yay for Wii, if you happen to be Nintendo.
It's been like this for some time now. Almost all good games on the nintendo consoles are first party titles, with a few third party games in between, but not that many. I honestly cant see which games that are out for the wii right now that are so good that it justifies buying a new machine for 250 bucks, that has the same graphics capabilities as the last gen consoles. Imo the wiimote should have been a peripheral to the gamecube. That would have made sense.
At any rate, i'm still waiting for a list of really good exclusive games for the Wii that aren't "U R Mr Gay", Metroid or Wii Sports.
