PS3

This time it's DjMizuhara's turn to do some more videos of the Gran Turismo 5: Prologue demo, with these three ones captured from the attract mode. Looking great :)
Update: Final video from DjMizuhara, 2 full laps and replay in simulation mode with no driving aids.

I could barely pull myself away from the demo to come here and post. Suddenly I'm considering paying up to $20 for the full Prologue. Before I was thinking no more than $5-10.

I am playing it right at the moment and it doesent look much better than gt4 HD... Jeah it feels better its absolutely fluid and the in car view is great, but i expectet less jaggies... I hope you can switch to 720p with added AA in the Prologue and in the Full version!

VisualVelocity I agree.. no matter how much I play the demo I don't get the 'wow' factor I was expecting from this game. Shimmering, bland tracks and slowdown have left me feeling slightly let down.

C'mon it's just a demo! For a demo at 730mbs or so it's bloody incredible the amount of detail packed in!

GT5 will be the real Mcoy, GT5 prologue is a stop gap title that bodes very well - 16 players online, loads of cars, dash view, awesome replay angles, great physics (damage will be implemented) - what more does one want? lol :)

I thought the car models were fine, the environment sub-par, the handling model very poor - especially the exaggerated nose diving under even light braking. It's not a patch on PGR4 never mind Forza 2. Is there ever going to be a game to justify my PS3 purchase. Even the wonderful motorstorm barely gets any play time now. I hope Killzone and MGS aren't going to fall to the same fate. The GT5 demo is uninspiring, a little boring, and totally underwhelming.

The engine sounds are very poor and are absolutely no improvement over GT4, the car handles like an F1 even with all assists off and leans like a landrover (the nose must be through the ground in every corner!).

The visuals deserve a simulation attached to them, its quite shocking they havent even tried to move forward in any aspect aside the graphics.

Played this for a bit earlier. The cars, lighting and just the image quality in general are amazing looking. The track on the other hand looks like they took the PS2 version and slapped some hi res textures on it and the driving physics, even on the pro setting, are really not that great. It just doesn't feel right, and there is no sense of speed.

The jaggies are because GT5 Prologue works in 1280x1080 and uses PS3 upscaling trick - by repeating some pixels in anamorphic picture to 1920x1080. So 50% upscale.
(It's even less than GT HD's 1440x1080)

1280x1080 and 2xAA
1280x720 and 4xAA
Confirmed by the same guy from Halo 3 resolution discovery (Quaz51).

"GT5 prologue demo is 1280x1080p (yamauchi know than in car game the vertical resolution is the most important
for the visibility) but with MSAA 2x now ! it's a very good Compromise
they also very Improved the display of grills and electric wires and aliasing problems (compare electric wires
in GT-HD and in this demo, it's big big gap), the texture filtering is very clean and the HDR ligthing is
awesome! all this in 60fps with 16 photorealistics cars, it's Impressive!
the show room and the pit/garage is full 1920x1080 no AA"

Does it not have physic simulation like Forza? If not, then who cares about this game at all. I always thought GT was all about simulation. GT3 seemed like a sim racer to me.

Fire up the demo and just leave it for a while and it starts playing the attract mode, looks fantastic, I've seen the Fuji track that looks awesome too.

How is it some of you are getting slow down, I'm playing this in 1080p and im not getting any.

You can get the attract mode by pressing the O button and selecting ok, its faster than waiting.

I'm sure that you will complain about Killzone 2 and MGS4. So sell your PS3 already and stop whinning about it.

It really makes me lose faith in the gaming community when people actually start counting pixels. That's beyond obsessive. That's just plain sad.

And I'm surprised that anyone can complain about this demo. It's a demo of a DEMO of GT5. You expect it to be perfect? You have to overlook the obvious blemishes and imagine what it will look and play like a year from now when the game's finally ready.

Or are some of you too dumb to look and think ahead? You bought the PS3 (at least I think you did), so I wanted to believe you at least know that good things come to those who wait.

.. But if GT5 get out next year with no upgraded physics and AI (from GT4 and GT5:Prolouge) will you quit acting like the ps3 fanboy of the year?

GT5 does look mighty fine graphical wise, but there are several features of the game that are below the rest of the racing game market. GT5 really need to get into sixth or even seventh gear if the game want to remain the king of racing games.

And I mean that in best way possible. I want GT5 to move on so I can continue getting the kicks out of this series...

So what is the appeal in this game? The cars are so slow, they control like ass, they bounce off each other like nothing happened, etc... Bo ring, boring, boring...

Never has ANYONE at Poly referred to Gran Turismo as a racing sim. It's a DRIVING sim. Yes, they are two completely different things.
