Images PC Xbox 360

Some new images of Risen have just been released by Koch Media and they're all from the PC version of the game. The character models may still look a bit rough around the edges but the island looks great. The new game of the makers of Gothic will be released in early October on PC and Xbox 360 and hopefully, it will suffer from fewer bugs than their previous game.

I can't wait to play this, I'm in a serious need of a good RPG game.

As for these pictures, they really should be in a higher res, but even on them the game looks good IMHO.

the official site has some pc and x360 separated from each other, where I can't see really the diference between them. maybe you guys should look there for more media.

The combat on some videos gave the game a poor vibe, but i'll wait and hope for the best.

Man, these guys are some serious polygon conservationists. Someone should tell them that you can use more than 1500 polys on a model on these machines. I've met guys with this mentality before- it's one thing to be able to model in low poly( and impressive if they are really good at it), but they forget that you only model that way because the machine can't do more. I swear, some of those models are circa 1999(dreamcast). At that level there should be 50 characters on screen...

@ Frozpot )
Yes, by todays standards the character models look shitty and if videos up until now are any indication then animations are on the same level ..

Still, if this game feels like G1+2 then I'll love it.

Hmmm, would you rather have an extra bush, or character models that don't look like they belong in a 10 year old game? I'm all for foliage, but if at the end of the day the people look like monkey shit, then they need to check their priorities. It wouldn't bother me so much if they had a ton of guys on screen, but based on these shots, it looks like only a handfull...

Codemasters called, they want their orange filter back. Other than that, it looks a bit old and scruffy. Like a budget PC game.

i think fable 2's character design has ALOT more personality in them.

I'd like to see some gameplay footage of this

True, but at least fable 2 had an artistic flair to it. This looks uninspiired, dull, and German. I assume they are German, with a name like Koch...

It's far too functional for my liking, the same reason I gave Two Worlds a miss.

Tbh i think Fable looks totally uninspired as well. The art is great but the transition from 2d to 3d just drops the ball completely. That said the characters in risen look lame as well. Especially coupled with the mediocre animation and bland world.

@ Baleur )

no, it isn't, it's an open world rpg with a story focus - it's more linear than say oblivion but more free than usual jrpgs .. somewhere in the middle between those

Visuals look strong but my main gripe is that the (main) character looks so very dull and uninspiring!
