Gears of War 3 gets new images

Considering they dont look as good as the previous "Images" Id say these are real "screenshots" except probably still being too clean

textures look more legit, but the AA most ceertainly isnt. still not "real". probably wont see any real ones untill people post screen captures themsevles once it's released. it's a shame developers do this. i dont think i've seen a legit screenshot released as promotional material for a good while now.

yes, consoles can't do this extremely good antialiasing

anyway, the attention to detail is incredible

this will cut Natahan Drake into pieces

Just like first two parts - Gears 3 is day 1 purchase for me. haters gonna hate of course, but this is going to be the best looking UE3 game. :)

september release date... pretty much confirms MS dont have any other big exclusives up their sleeves this year. They seem to really drop the ball every other year

I believe this is mostly multiplayer stuff, which will look a bit worse than most of the other stuff. But it looks about the same to me, whcih is to say, "Damned good"

What do you want, cell shading? The way it "looks" should be fairly consistent. It's the experience that needs to vary in a series, and you have no idea how varied the experience will be. Plus, this stuff looks mostly to be multiplayer, which is probably going to be pretty similar, unless you count the new monster mode.

That's what footage is for. Jagged screenshots look like shit. In motion at high resolution, especially with the compression that is common with web video, the jagged edges look far less terrible. Screenshots will pretty much always be over rendered, and personally I am glad of that. Screenshots aren't designed to show you the exact way the game will be rendered in the final version, they are showing off the assets, giving a taste of what the game will involve, and what it will look like aesthetically.

i dissagree. a legit, capture-card screenshot is far more indicative of what the game looks like compared to some compressed footage of it in motion. if anything footage shows off the assets, while screenshots show it for what it really is, warts and all. because in screenshots you can take time to see what it REALLY looks like, scrutinise character models and textures, but if those screens are doctored that becomes an impossibility. motion however, if anything, hides a multitude of sins. that's why i'm way more impressed when a game looks great in legit screenshots, compared to seeing it in motion. if a game can look amazing in real, captured screens, where you can really see the details, and analyse everything from particles to textures...that's when a game goes from "it looks good in motion" to, "it looks amazing...period"

wrong go over to gametrailers and look at any of the numerous screenshots posted in the PS3 / 360 screenshot section, that will change your tune.

Can't wait. And I fully blame MS for the fact that we have to wait until September to play the game. Epic is probably near completion and MS has them holding the game back since they don't really have too many big exclusives this year (besides the Halo remake of course).

just watched the vid..the qualitys not great. The lighting looks alot better..but not much else.

This game will probably be epics last real push for selling the engine..they're going to need it showing all the bells and whistles. I hope it lives up to the screen shots and is alot more consistant than Gears 2 was

Sorry but I don't understand this concept of only sticking with one good game while ignoring another. Guess this is some sort of fanboy mentality....

Anyway the game looks superb as always. I recently played the Bulletstorm demo on PS3 and was very impressed by the new additions to the engine
