Developer Diary PC Xbox 360 PS3

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will most certainly be the first big hit to be released in the long list of great games to come this end of year. Square-Enix and Eidos Montreal sent us this new developer diary focused on the importance of augmentations in 2027. Great news, we can announce that our review of the game will be available on August 23, which means we will have to spend our whole summer with Adam Jensen. I know, it's a big sacrifice to keep working while you guys will be at the beach doing nothing. But hey, what wouldn't we do for you?

Same, the more i see the more i'm sold on it. I was a bit aprehensive when they showed that demo from early on and options seemed too obvious, but based on what i've seen since and hearing impressions from those who played the leaked beta, i'm more then hyped for this. Not too long to wait now either.

This game is awesome! Atleast the first 10 hours according to those who have played the leaked beta. I saw some vids of that and ended up pre-ordering the game for $38

Can't wait! Stealth fans should be looking at this very closely IMO, its gonna be the only stealth game for a long time

Too bad stealth + FPS is garbage.

Stealth should always be third person like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid.

From what I saw, the gameplay seems to become boring quick for my liking.
I will stick with the CGI and OST lol

I was looking forward to this game, but the more I see of it, the more I'm having questions whether it will be as good as one would expect from a Deus Ex game. First I pre-ordered the collector's edition with figurine. But I cancelled it because I would like to read some impressions after the game is out for some time.
There are plenty of impressions of the leaked preview build, they're the game's first 10 hours and even die-hard Deus Ex fans are happy with it. From what I've played, it stays true to Deus Ex's design (and not Invisible War).

I want to like it as cyberpunk is my bag but I would still like a demo, hopefully they can muster one before release...

Those are some awful graphics in that video, sure hope that's a console version...

The PC version looks the same, except for better AA and resolution. Art style is great and that's what matters. At least this game will be more interesting than any of the two Crysis games. :p

The good: I do like the setting and possibly even the story! Gameplay has the potential of being a lot of fun.

The Bad: The characters animation aren't as fluid as say in games like Batman or AC. There's no comparing these games as the genre is different but overall the animation look very stiff.

From the few dialogue scenes that I have seen this game doesn't really impress with that element either.

I played the leaked Beta and I was quite impressed. On a second playthrough I discovered another side mission that was totally unrelated and still had ~2 hours of gameplay. But there were also things I didn't like. There usually is only one way to do things the best way. You get most experience for kills, when you silently knock them out, so thats what I did with every enemy. The Rambo way is much easier though. The enemy AI wasn't very sophisticated. When two guys stand besides each other, you can knock one out from behind, quickly hide again and the second dude won't notice you and wonder why the other one is lying on the floor. Also I didn't really know what to use my implant upgrades for. I upgraded hacking as fast as I could, but then there weren't so many useful things to upgrade. Also I didn't like the idea of big boss battles.
Still I preordered the game.
*edit* Another fun thing I did was hacking all PCs in the police station. I made huge piles of vending machines and boxes so the officers didn't see me :)

Now that sounds like good old deus ex. Thinking outside of the box and the game actually letting you do it. Awesome.

For those that played both DE ad DE:IW, what was so different between the two? Everyone goes on about how terrible IW was compared to the original, but I have never heard why. They make it sound like they are two totally different games, but they have the same story, same style gameplay, and I actually enjoyed DE:IW.

So my question is, what made the original so great, and what makes everyone think this will be closer to the original? Everything I have seen from HR looks pretty damn similar to IW...

play it and you'd understand. IW was to deus ex, what mass effect 2 is to mass effect. deus ex had larger , more open environments, giving you much more room to play how YOU wanted to (IW was made up for smaller, confined playing areas), this in turn gave you more options. the leveling and augmentations sytem was far more in-depth too, again giving you far more options when it cames to playing the game. the story was better. the mechanics where better (different ammo for every gun, rather then 1 type of ammo for ALL guns) it was simply a better game. only area whre IW bettered deus ex was the visuals and even those wernt great, even for their time. it was a prime example of a game being simplified for a wider appeal.

if you havnt played it, i recommend you do, either the PC or PS2 version.

did the ps2 version have a better framerate than the xbox one? Last time i tried IW on the xbox it was almost unplayable due to the slowdown.

i dunno.. i thought you were recommending he check out the pc or ps2 version of the second?

Tbh its news to me that the first game hit the ps2. I thought that was exclusive to the PC... i cant imagine playing that on ps2 as it was such an open game. Personally i think it looked better than IW visually too..though i could be looking back on it with rose tinted glasses

nah, he said he'd already played IW, i was recommending the first game since he didnt understand why people think it was so much better.

worked fine on Ps2 (played it on PS2 and PC multiple times), loaded more, but worked the same. i think it looked slightly better then what the PC was doing too, kinda like how PS2's half life was visually better then the PC counterpart.

Ps2's half life may have been visually better but nowhere near as stable. Hell, the dreamcast version of HL was better looking and that ran as bad as the train wreck that is Duke Nukem forever.... although DC half life was never officially released so it has an excuse

half life ran fine for me. controlled like ass (it had a lock on system for christ sake..lol) but it ran perfectly fine for me, same with the split-screen co-op mode. didnt have any issues.
