Capcom has release screenshots for Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry as well as details on Dante and his weapons.

Info:

Dante

DmC’s Dante is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.

Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes but these were mostly operated by demons and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general but tries to stay incognito. He sides with the little guy, the victims of what he sees as an unfair society.

Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory

In Game: The Rebellion sword was given to Dante by his father Sparda as a weapon with which he could protect himself against the demons that hunt him. How Dante came in to possession of Ebony and Ivory or where they come from is unknown.

— Design Ethos: The design philosophy behind both Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory is to create the impression that they were crafted a long, long time ago and since their creation they have sent innumerable demons to their doom.

Ebony & Ivory have straight, clean looking barrels that make them look like contemporary firearms, while the addition of ornate embossing is used to give the guns a feeling of mystique and uniqueness. As you move into the grip you can see that the guns have a more fluid, liquid-like look that adds further mystery and a demonic flavor to their design.

Rebellion is designed to look like a powerful sword, with the detailing in the handle giving it a feeling of historical significance coupled with a demonic heritage. The same design ethos that was used for the Ebony & Ivory grips is also true for Rebellion’s hilt, making the weapons match stylistically.

Can't wait for the original Devil May Cry creator's Dragons Dogma. A game worthy of your time and money. What is this crap? Devil May Unreal? Awesome, the billionth average looking Unreal Engine game this gen.

It's not the engine that makes it ook terrible, it's the design. Everything from dante to the guns jsut looks freaking HORRIBLE.

Emo May Cry (literally). Don't like the art design. It looks.....strange. And Dantes new design is so out of place in "his" world. It's generic and boring.

You are not alone man! Hopefully game will do Enslaved sales numbers and Capcom will realize what fans of the series want.

Hell, there are many other ways to make a good reboot of the series. Changing the main character and put an emo dude, named...Dante again, slaying things in...shitty world...this is not the right way. Not to mention the 30fps...

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, was not only one of the best action games this generation, but sadly one of the most overlooked as well. It deserved to sell millions and millions of copies, and have been turned into a proper franchise. Heavenly Sword was actually pretty good too, just no where near as good as Enslaved. In all likelihood, DmC is going to be better than either, as the developers at Ninja Theory, like fine wine, just keep getting better with time.

As a Devil May Cry fan, I understand all the angst oozing out of this thread. But to actually wish a game that in all likelihood is going to be pure awesome (despite it's misguided art direction) to have poor sales . . . some of you guys are worse than the game publishers who decided changes were necessary in the first place.

If this game is great, I hope it sells a bazillion copies, and Ninja Theory becomes the lead developers behind the next two games in the series - misguided art direction be damned! At the end of the day, the three things I do know for sure: this is a Ninja Theory game, which means it's going to be an awesome experience; I'll be getting it day one; haters gonna hate.

I dont mind change in GAMEPLAY, but I dislike change of one of the most iconic gaming characters in action genre.

Fans have every right to complain about it.

LMAO please like the original wasn't any less EMO then this guy. GTFO
The thing about the original Dante design was that he fitted in. He was so extravagant to look at, that he couldn't be anything other than a fantasy character similar to that seen in anime. He fitted the bill. With this, they've ripped that extravagance out and replaced all the flamboyance with something like that looks like they are trying to seat in reality, and it doesn't mix. All I see when I look at this new Dante is someone who got bullied in school for drawing anarchy symbols on his cloths and bag, having his nose or brow pierced, wearing eye liner and having a gay hair cut. I mean, he's wearing a wife beater for fuck sake. A wife beater!! Is that supposed to make him look hard or something? What were they thinking? OK, hyperbole or not, it's a shit design. Up there with Rare's Joanna Dark reboot from PDZ for atrocious character design. All over the place.

Yeah, EMO is when pop music tries to be alternative. Which of course attracts asshats that look like retards, not unlike Dante in this new version of DMC :P

FreeSwag: to me it's mainly about the name, and design. I really dislike how it looks. I just don't find it appealing at all. Now had the game been called Mr. Angsty: The Slaughteration or something, i might have been "hmm, looks like ass but maybe it plays well!" Now i'm just like "Huh, this looks nothing like DMC and doesn't seem to play like it either. It's pissing on my fandom. Sweet!"

I really don't care that they are rebooting it anymore. I was pissed off at first but i've kind of gotten to grips with it. I understand why they'd want to reboot, it just doesn't appeal to me anymore, which i find a bit disappointing. Great for you guys who don't mind, a bit of a loss for us who like DMC the way it was. I kinda wish they'd keep on evolving the gameplay from DMC4, the revving and devil arm thing were good ideas. If they'd just flesh the other weapons and stuff out and made a full game, that would rock imo.

Basically, DMC4 was good, the core was all there, they just didn't have time to finish teh game (at elast that's what i head. They got half way through, realized they only had haf the game done and no dev time left....copy-paste that shit!)

Pretty much it. I couldn't care less about this game if it wasn't a new DMC direction I don't like. I don't care what NT done in its past (personally I've found their projects barely appealing for me to play) but this looks like crap (both design-wise and gameplay-wise) even aside from it trying to put DMC shoes on.

What is your measure tools for the sense? It doesn't look like the he likes the game much. The only difference is that he had trust in NT while other people don't.

One of the key parts of DMC's success was Dante in all of his vainglorious wit. What makes me think that the developers lack vision is their simple failure to learn from the past. The two DMC games people didn't like were the two were we didn't get our Dante. In both of them you spend at least half the game playing someone else, and in DMC2 Dante lacked the charm that becomes him. Change is great, but, you cant take the soul out of something and expect it to work. It may as well not even be called Devil May Cry. It's like remaking 300 with Robert Smith as Leonidias.

It's just a very typical Unreal Engine thing. Some things looks incredible crisp while others look horrible, which gives many games a very sloppy visual overall look..
