PS3

Codemasters just send us these images from the PS3 version of Dirt, and according to the E3 visitors it looks and moved noticeably better than the Xbox 360 version. Slowdowns being my biggest gripe about the game, I'm all for it!

Sorry but in my opinion it doesnt look any better at all. Some actually look worse!
I suppose we cant judge untill we see it moving.

I got this game on saturday and spend a bit of time playing it on my 360. I agree with andyokane I think the game looks better on 360 than those screenshots.

If this chucks in some sixaxis control I'm gonna pick it up after all. I opted for Flatout and Forza 2 around the time the Xbox 360 version came out, partly because I thought the demo was a wonky, screen tearing and floaty mess.

Shame the Xbox 360 is such shoddy hardware (I'm just recovering from my Friday the 13th circle of death).

If the game has all the features of the Xbox 360 version I might pick it up.
BTW does it run in 1080p?

Looks the same to me?

Framerate does bug me immensely in the 360 version though. Hopefully they've cured that for the PS3 one.

The cockpit view is horrible- The whole cockpit is a shame.
But the outside of the cars and the tracks look really good!
However, I lost interest in that game...

The first screen (left side) shows that they got rid of FSAA to achieve a more stable framerate. Ground textures are higher res in the 360 version.

textures are 10000 times better in the 360 version !!!

30FPS locked.
7.1 Uncompressed sound.
1080p
50% load time cut (this might not be true).

Those are the main differences between the two versions.

Let's keep in mind this is an engine Codemasters and Sony developed together.

The developers themselves said that the PS3 version shines next to the 360 version, in visuals and performance. Have a look through the gamespot videos, they have the interview.

In the meantime, might as well wait until it ships.

Haven't read anything about native 1080p at all, it might be coded to upscale. Looks like the textures took a little bit of a hit to get that locked frame-rate.

who cares if its gonna look better on ps3?!!

xbox 360 owners have already bought, played, enjoyed, completed and forgotten about this game ages ago!! as far as im concerned this game is history, and this news is BORING because ive already played this game!!

Theres so much more to look forward to then a slightly improved Dirt that has been out on 360 for a month already

and to my eyes, the 360 version looks better then these screen shots anyway!

Love this game, but agree 100% that framerate issues could kill the moment.

I'll wait for DIRT 2, which will have proper online MP..
and according to the E3 visitors it looks and moved noticeably better than the Xbox 360 version.
Better optimized framerate, maybe.. Looking better, I very much doubt it..

We'll see when the PS3 version is released so when can compare.. Tbh I think it will be like almost all multiplatform games that look very much identical on both systems.. The differences between the Xbox 360 and PS2 are much smaller then between Xbox and PS2, and I doubt that will ever change..

Comparing the Xbox 360 and PS3 is like comparing a ATI 1800XT and Nvidia 7800GTX videocard.. The ATI card being faster in some games, the Nvidia one in others, but overall pretty much equal..

The game will look better on the PS3,

Codemasters use the Neon engine, developed with Sony for the PS3 which is the lead platform, for some odd reason they decided to port and release on the 360/PC earlier, and IMO it's a hashed port with too many framerate issues..

The fact that the PS3 is the lead platform, using an Engine that has had Sony's input, and released after the 360/PC means it should be a good improvement...

Why oh why they screwed the 360/PC crowd I don't know..
