Why Jacky? They should have brought in Lei Fei. His fighting style is much cooler.

As big a fan I am of the series and this studio, please boycott this game. Do not send Tecmo the message that you are willing to buy every game twice.

The environment art in DOA5 really is spectacularly awful. It's Dreamcast level stuff. Low poly, horrible lighting, and abysmal texture work.

QFT, but to be fair, unless they've done a huge overhaul of the gameplay since 4, so is the gameplay :P

It's a 3D fighting game that runs at 60 fps with interactive, dynamic environments. I can't think of another fighting game that does this and with better visuals.

Soul Calibur 5? TTT2? That crappy DC fighter from nether Realm? Pretty much any fighter out there, aside form the woefully ugly SFIV, looks better than this in terms of the environments. And let's face it, the interactive environments are hardly some sort of mindblowing feature that excuses the levels looking like complete tripe. Looking back at some Tekken 5 stages they are almost comparable to this.

I disagree. While those games may look better visually, SC5 and TTT2 are mostly small flat stages with a lot of flat backdrops that you only see from one angle. The Injustice stages aren't seen from 360 degrees either.

You know that a lot of the stages in TTT2 have several areas and stuff, right? You punch people through walls and the floor on a fair bunch of the stages.

And even if that is the case, the game still has the worst goddamn allocation of resources i've ever seen! Bizarre polycounts on characters and bloody nothing spent on the environments. The textures are a joke and apparently using normal maps on the environment wasn't in their budget.

I agree that the characters look alright (from a technical point, i hate the aesthetic of DoA) but that's just becasue they blow 60 - 100k tris on a single character. It's bloody retarded, and thus we end up with stages that looks like something bordering between this gen and last. I don't care how you want to spin it to justify it to yourself, it looks TERRIBLE.

Soul Calibur has vastly superior backgrounds. They're not as interactive, but I personally found the endless falling through floors and other gimmicks in DOA pointless anyway.

Pointless to you, but they have a massive impact on the gameplay and actually every fighter by now copied that feature.
