MAJESCO ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES DOUBLE DRAGON: NEON, TAKING GAMERS BACK TO THE EIGHTIES

Head into the danger zone as Billy and Jimmy Lee are introduced to a new generation with a radical reimagining of the beloved Double Dragon franchise, playable at PAX East

EDISON, NJ., April 5, 2012 - Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, announced today that Double Dragon: Neon will be released as a full-scale digital game on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®Network this summer. Majesco Entertainment has once again partnered with WayForward, the award-winning team known for bringing franchise favorites including BloodRayne: Betrayal back to audiences in exciting new ways, and is thrilled for the fan-favorite developer to put its signature spin on the father of all brawlers: Double Dragon! Double Dragon: Neon isn't a shoddy sequel - it's a face-melting 80's tour de force! Featuring bodacious characters, gnarly combat, and a retro aesthetic, it's pure over-the-top baditude... to the max!

"Double Dragon: Neon is far from a standard retro remake," said Sean Velasco, Director, WayForward. "It's WayForward's love letter to the decade that spawned the franchise - the music, the style, and culture of the 80's pulse through the nucleus of Double Dragon: Neon. But don't think this is a simple graphical facelift; with our innovative "mix tape" level up system and power-up high-fives, we pushed it to the limit!"

Known for the beautiful aesthetics and renowned gameplay of A Boy and his Blob, Contra 4, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and BloodRayne: Betrayal, WayForward is applying its focused attention to detail on Double Dragon: Neon. Taking place in a hyper-saturated omniverse, players beat up baddies across earth and beyond against the Black Dragon Clan's most nefarious leader yet-- the supernatural scourge Skullmageddon. You could go it alone, but why wouldn't you want to grab a buddy and take your game to the next level with drop-in, drop-out online ‘Bro-Op'?!

Gamers will get a tempting glimpse of this fresh take on Double Dragon this week at PAX East where Double Dragon: Neon will be debuting a playable demo.

Double Dragon: Neon on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and PlayStation®Network is expected to release this summer. haven't played this since my Sega Master System.
Double Dragon on IOS and Android seems closer to the original:

... regardless I will pass cause the only Double Dragon game I ever enjoyed was the SNK Neo Geo Arcade Beat 'em Up.

Already like it ! The comic style fits the game well imo.
If it plays like Streets of Rage in terms of attack variety then im in.
I won't wait for a SoR HD-remake any longer...

at first I was like "yay"... then I looked over screen nr 1 and nr 2 and was like "oh please no, pleaaaaseee, whyyyy?!"...
At the third screen I nearly fell of my screen because of laughing. This looks so fuckin hilarious.
Maybe I will buy it just for the convulsive laughter...

Grift, now some things from the 80s are awesome. Neither power gloves or mullets are though. And maybe it's because i was fairly young while the 80's were ongoing but i sure as hell don't remember women wearing leather bodices, garters, and fetishy leather hats in combination with pink leg warmers...i mean i wish that was true but i somehow doubt it :P

So sofar the game just encompasses my wet dreams of what 80's wome should look like and all the things that were just AWFUL about that entire decade :)
