Hope they get rid of the forced widescreen on the PC version.
I've been asking for a HD port of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for years now. The textures look excellent compared to those of the Xbox 360 version (even with the HD Texture pack installed, they still looked like shit). Can't wait for this.
Thank you so much, Capcom!!!
Finally.
Anyway, I'm pretty excited to play this again with improved visuals and performance. And hopefully modders get behind it too.
But that alone doesnt warrant the huge praise, too many issues.
Also no, it's not the best combat in an action-oriented RPG type game, that'd be Dork Souls baby! Objective truth that.
Then you mention Dork Souls being better lol
I suppose i should perhaps say that the pacing is kinda shit then, is that better? Everything takes forever to do, and the combat just never felt exciting. Kill a monster? Better hit it 5 million times with your sword! Go somewhere? Gotta run for 15 minutes. With loading screens!
But hey, luckily i still have it installed on the good old PS3. I'll give it another go.
It's hard to imagine you found the best class for you and DD takes a while before you start to see what it offers. If you find it such a chore to play, I wouldn't even bother with it.
Most of what Megido is saying stems from wanting Dark Arisen to be like Dark Souls, which it isn't.
Are you saying that the game doesn't require you to bash enemies and bosses endlessly later in the game? Cause to me, at least, it's really offputting when you feel like you are whittling down a boss with a feather duster. Doesn't feel very epic. Maybe it gets better once you find better gear and materials to upgrade with? I played a good few hours of it each time i started it, but it seemed like it kept going in the same manner.
Also when i say that the combat doesn't feel exciting, that's obviously just my take on it. I'm not trying to present some sort of objective truth :P
Grift; well all the ones that make you do a lot of pointless running around at least. I mean, most games figured out that fast travel is good by now :P
There are nuances here and there like knowing that you freeze quicker if you get wet, as well as receiving increased damage from lightning attacks. Each vocation you choose gives you passive abilities that you can equip on your base character.
There's a ton more that requires some trudging admittedly and I could go on. But yes, you haven't even scratched the surface of the game.
Don't force yourself though. I feel the same thing with Dark Souls. I'm sure there is a great game in Dark Souls, but after playing for about 3 hours I don't see it. I might return to it one day. But the bottom line is if it doesn't gel with you, it doesn't gel.
