First 10 minutes Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft decided to remove the embargo over videos and reviews of Driver: San Francisco a few days before the original date. Normally this would be a good thing, but considering I only got the game yesterday evening there is no way I could do a review of the game that quickly, so I just jumped on my capture hardware and did some videos. After a few hours of gameplay, I can say without a doubt that this is one of the most ridiculous story in a game ever, but I'm also having a lot of fun with the cars and the shift system. Brilliant idea :)
Update: Added a video showing various gameplay sequences.

I'm so hesitant, it looks fun, reminiscent of Midtown Madness for Xbox in some ways, and I like that, but I don't know how many people there'd be on the PC playing it...

Bad voice acting, crowded UI and very floaty looking physics for every car.... not really impressed by what I'm seeing here.

I don't know if I would go THAT far. I would say possibly fun as a Bangkok handjob, and also not quite worth the $60. The controls are decent and I actually don't mind the physics, but there is just something missing from the "feel" of the game. Not really sure what it is though.

If the game had a decent story or a little more to the gameplay than driving around I might consider it, but as it is I just don't see it warranting a purchase. Kinda burned out on racing/driving games lately, and this doesn't do anything unique (other than having a cracked out storyline).

Shifting is pretty unique, but more importantly the game puts fun before context. I love a good story, but a driving game is not the place for one, never has been, never will be. It isnt a buy, i agree (other games take priority). But i can't wait to rent it. It's one of only a handfull of street based driving games i've really enjoyed since it is so fun. A true return to form for the series. And certainly more entertaining then any other driver/racer coming this year imo.

From what I've heard, that's the general consensus according to most. Read a couple of nice reviews about the final product though.

That is some confusing story and missions. Tanner is practically just driving around being an asshole with his powers.

Now THAT was a shit game imo. I wanted to like it, but going open world, no split screen and removing the crash mode made it impossible for me to do so.

Agreed. And that is coming from someone who typically loves open world games. Burnout just felt so much better as a straight up racer with crash mode.

As for DrivSFr, I still think I may have bought it if they had some more varied missions and allowed you to get out the car. I know I'm in the minority here, but a little shooting and some more action would have made the driving less tedious and mixed things up a bit. I realize that not every game has to have guns, but for me it still just feels like going backward to have it for a few games and then remove it. I really think if they just limited it to a few missions and free roam, and improved the controls it could have been great.

I know this probably sounds sadistic as hell........but I also hate the fact that I can't plow over pedestrians anymore. Helps me keep my road rage in the living room and off the actual road......
