Video Xbox 360 PS3

Our previous video of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was quite uninteresting, to say the least. So here is the same level, but with this time some who actually understand what's going on playing.

i really hate these combat animations. Dunno what its called... The Slash'N'Pause ?
Throws me out of the action everytime... dunno why it became so popular.

Looks fine but if they announced Order of Ecclesia 2 tomorrow I'd completely forget about this God of War clone lol... I wish Konami would've kept Castlevania and Silent Hill in Japanese hands instead of handing them over to unheard-of western studios while masterminds like Kojima and Yamaoka "supervise"

I freaking loved this video, just fantastic.

They have nailed everything down perfectly for my taste in this genre.

Dark age fantasy with demons, vampires, werevolves, huge enemies.
Voice acting will be so memoriable.
Music is just breahtaking. As a fan of only listening to orchestra music from movie/games I am loving the tracks I have heard.
Art design is just fantastic, I love how they modelled the demons, especially those vampire looking ones.
Visuals looks fantastic as well.

I only have ONE problem...combat.
I dont know why this and God of War has this attack-stop when it comes to certain hits?

You attack at a object or a enemy in a certain way and the animation just stops for half a second and then continues, that definitely breaks the fluidness that combat needs!
I dont find it gamebreaking when I have loved everything I have seen so far, but annoying non the less.

Also...the game has no QTE, thank god!
David Cox said all the combat, even the big titan sized enemies is all real time, you have to climb up yourself, it is not like God of War that it is scripted.
He said it is more like Shadow of the Colossus :)

I do wish they would let Japanese developers handle the combat though, they certainly know how to perfect it (NG, Bayonetta, DMC just to name a few).

But from what I seen so far, it looks and seem to play fantastic, definitely my type when it comes to design and setting (sorry Ryu).

Also 2 player co-op has been confirmed, atleast from that I heard.

PS. Please add a sword to this game, that is my favorite weapon :)

Looks pretty cool. Can't wait for demo.
Agreed with japanese studios leaving their games for westerners being bad. Remember how the local (swedish) studio was working on the next Final Fantasy game for them but then they cut it in the middle of development because it sucked.
MGS Rising's trailer shows that it's good to leave franchises in the hands of their original teams.

Yeah, I'm starting to lose my hype for this game as well. I love the franchise (old school at least) and the idea behind the game, but from the poor looking weapon animations I'm just not sure how solid the combat looks. But I also thought Bayonetta looked "meh" from the trailers so I still have hope that this game might turn out good.

I just need a demo to find out for myself.

IMO when it comes to this genre and a demo, they should max out the character's abilities in both weapons and powers, that way you can get a feeling of whats to come and see if it is fun or not.

For example in Ninja Gaiden games.
When they released a demo for any of the games, they gave you a selected of weapons and maximized them for you to be able to do see how it would be like later in the game, but these days I havent seen any other title doing this in the genre.

Maybe Bayonetta, but I doubt it.

PS. And yes I played NG demos for hours because the weapons was maxed out and I could do awesome stuff...just by the demo.

It is still a big Day 1 title purchase for me, reminds me of Van Helsing + Solomon Kane type of game, but better (duh) :)

They need to change the look of the weapon. Is it a whip coming out of the cross? Shouldn't the whip look like Ivy's sword when it disassembles, like in the 2D games?

I didn't see any QTEs like GoW have, those suck the ones that are here are more like push this at the right time only, kinda like the Bayonetta ones or the OT in NG2,nothing wrong with them if they serve as a badass finisher.

Im kinda digging more and more the combat in this,it seems that the hit detection is spot on in teh attacks.

The HUD its badass too.

cant wait for this!!

I watched it, but the QTE isnt traditional.

If you played Clash of the Titans (like I have) you would know it is more fun to use this system than QTE.

The traditional QTE is that you have to be very quick to press whatever button comes on screen, thats shitty.
But this QTE is more fun to use and less stressful.

Basically you can press the attack button when you see both circles being "one" as possible, thats it.

Trust me, it is so MUCH easier, and frustuating, you would wish any dev that even thinks of adding QTE they had this system.

I wish there wasent any QTE period, but if there was one type, this would be it.
Though I love Clash of the Titans lightning visuals when it happens that this one, its more flashy :)

I wouldnt worry about this type of QTE if I were you, because I didnt see any button image on screen so it has to be the way I described it.

Yeah I saw that they use this ring thing like in Lost Odyssey.

But what´s with this???

http://www.stooorage.com/show/458/885144_snapshot2...

Don´t get me wrong, I don´t thing that the ring-wise QTEs will make the game a lot less enjoyable, but I just can´t stand the "push-this-button" QTEs

The OT in Ninja Gaiden 2 was the perfect example on making it more intuitive.

Anyway. I hope this will be another big entrance for the action adventure genre. Seems promising

Ninja Gaiden games anyone?

I cant count how many times I saw "press *button* to ??" on screen when I played NG2 LOL.

It is just a guide, instruction to help the players to know what button does what.
But after the player got that they wouldnt show up anymore, starters guide.
However I do think when a player is near an object and there it says "press *button*" just means that the player can interact with it, I dont have any problem with those type of stuff.

If you look more you can even see it being used for other stuff such as blocking, dodging...etc. just a guide for a demo dont worry :)

And yeah I hate the idea of the game telling me what button to press and when, that is the traditional QTE we all hate.
Not only does it make you stressed considering you dont know when it will happen but you have to be ready. They wont let you enjoy the cinematic they created, stupid developer being stupid.

Atleast with this time-ring you only have to press one button, you just have to time it.

This my video of Clash of the Titans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfhqrLa08ww skip to 4:42
As you can see how easy it is. I could press any of the 4 input buttons I wanted, but I decided to use X for the sake of my thumb just being there LOL (lazy i know :P)

NG2's combat is great IMO, no QTE or anything, but that is how the game was designed for.
I dont think Itagaki would want to annoy us any FURTHER by keep QTE-ing every decapitation that happened, that would have pissed me off for sure.

Just dont quote me on this though.
I mean I dont mind if sometimes in games were they tell you to press a button to interact with something, but that is it...interact, thats as far as I go to accepting this.

Even Ninja Gaiden has this.
For the elevator, doors, chests...etc. they are so rare that its not annoying :)

I think I have to use Ninja Gaiden stuff to make you understand when you got such an awesome avatar ;)

As far as I can see, it's just the tutorial; I wouldn't have thought these 'press X repeatedly' prompts will be coming up all the time in the final game.

The visuals are gorgeous - I absolutely love the art style. Unfortunately the combat looks a little off at this point, especially when it comes to the fluidity of the moves and how combos string together.

They've got some time to work on it though. Looks promising.

I actually though the animation transactions from the attacks was nice, its the damned "stop" moment on some of the attacks that needs work.
Remove that and I would love it!

Right now it is GOOD ENOUGH considering the overal package of a high production title we are getting.
