Gearbox and Take Two have decided to lift the veil even more on the upcoming Borderlands. After months of absence, the comic-looking game really shines and we can't wait to see more of it in the weeks to come.

Awesome look, but where is the GAMEPLAY footage?

This game is confirmed for this October and yet no gameplay footage, E3 would have been perfect for it.

Maybe soon.

If these screens are any indication, this game has some beautiful comic-style linework going on.

I have removed the news as there seems to be a bug with the site when it's online. We're looking into it as I speak and it should be back online shortly.

not nearly as appealing to me as the first shots were...

Now it looks all "Unreal-Tournament-ish." Or like Tribes. I thought it was gonna be like a Fallout/Halo/Stalker type mix, which would be awesome. But no...:(

I quite liked Borderland's first 'look'... oh, until I actually saw some gameplay footage. I then discovered that the game in fact looked generic and, well, ugly.

It was the right decision to drastically change the game's visual style. This new look reminds me of the game XIII, which is a great compliment - anyone remember how awesome that game was?

From the gameplay footage, it very much looks like a FPSRPG with plenty of loot. Basically, a Diablo FPS.

It does not look like either of those games, unless I missed the time where Tribes or UT went cel shaded, in fact it does look much closer to a mix of Fallout and Stalker.

I think you might be a bit confused.

Those creens look awesome. The new style is just too cartoony.. take back the cellshading 50%-60% and add some realism is needed. I like that look. Now it's all cellshaded like a cartoon - which is great, not just in this game. It should be gritty! Not "go shoot clowns in laalaa-land".

no i dont mean the cell shaded part, i just mean they look alot less detailed, and the environments looks alot more closed-in, similar to UT in these new shots, rather than the wide open landscapes and detail from the older version.

i just saw the gameplay video and i guess its not like UT or Tribes, but its definitely not the game i was expecting at all...For them to release those first screens was ridiculous, the game is nothing like that. I like cell-shading, but i dont like how they mislead people to believing this is anything more than an FPS.

Some of the best Cell shaded gfx yet IMO. One of those games I could play just to walk around and check out the design ideas. Wish we had more adventure games with this look, would be a much better fit.

This game is too cell shaded! It is hard to pick the characters out from the background. They should have went the route of Team Fortress 2 and made the characters cell shaded and everything else realistic, that way it is easy to decern the characters from everything else.

Its all the same but with cell shading, and some slightly exagerated characters. The majority of the design is still the same, the creatures and vehicles and stuff look the same but with stylized textures.

TF2 had super cartoony enviroments o.o They were just really empty, and had lots of low level color textures, and they also used lots of obvious colors, and exaggerated characters, plus things like rim shading.

I think its about time a cellshaded game came out like this. I am so sick of games like Crackdown that take bad textures, add outlines, and thats all they do. This looks like they took PoP to the next level, and it looks incredible. I just wish they made distant outlines smaller, they are too thick! I can't stand that in cell shaded games =(
