Electronic Arts released the E3 trailer of Dragon Age: Origins, and while it's 100% CG it's still quite good.

However, it seems like EA are affraid of the game, what with the reliance on the blood and Marylin Manson calling it the New Shit. I wonder if they think people won't buy it even though it's made by Bioware. With me, and many others, I think people will buy it without thinking because it is Bioware. Perhaps it's too old school for what people expect, it isn't first or third person, it's old school point and click, though how this will work on console :S
It's not esay giving the cenematic vibe with plain In-Engine ones.
They are always pretty fast to point out that this is some kind of spiritual successor to BG but this kind of advertising tells otherwise.
Anyway I’m looking forward to it but not because of their recent trailers but because of their reputation and the actual gameplay scenes.
The graphics are beefed up, the bantersystem somewhat improved, the storyline new, the realm no longer The Forgotten Realms and the ruleset is new. BUT it still has the same pause, point & click combat features as did Baldur's Gate, which will make it feel like a Baldur's Gate game.
If you didn't like the Infinty Engine games or if you just play Mass Effect because it is 3rd person combat and very lightweight on the rpg front, you probably won't like Dragon Age: Origins.

Btw. Mass Effect had a pause mode aswell...

Taking a genre like RPG and tranforming it into another genre like 3rd person shooter, is not game-evolving in my book, but rather trying to make a new IP from things one knows work, and trying to get a bigger audience in order to expand your market potentiel. Don't get me wrong - I love Mass Effect and KotOR, but they are not RPG games to the core.
As to the quality of the combat graphics, I don't think it look that bad - I rather like it. But don't take too much notice to what I am writing - I started playing computer RPG games way back in the early eighties, and I can't get enough of them... :)
