Todd Howard said they had to sacrifice a few things to deliver the "Fallout experience" they wanted to make. I'm almost sure he meant the graphics by the way he referred to it, saying they understand that some people are disappointed with it, and that it was one of the sacrifices.

Fallout 4 looks very good to me and after everything they showed, I'm glad they focused more on the overall experience, gameplay and systems over graphics. I just can't wait for Fallout 4. Most likely a GOTY contender!

The last concept art shows te main character, with his dog, firing from a plane. And the trailer had a shot of someone with a power armor in a helicopter looking outside in what appeared to be the game's third person view mode (images below). I will really love if we can use vehicles.

I hope I'm wrong but to me one of the things they sacrified is being able to have other companions other than the dog.

I must say I like it. I like it a lot. Love the way, You can customize the weapon (or?) and that jetpack!!! I´ve heard many people to bitch about it´s graphics, but I love the style. One thing I don´t like, is that HUGE HUD font and clumsy graphics of it. Maybe it´s in the style of Fallout universe, but please, give us option to make it more subtle.

Pardon my French but....

FUCKING AWESOME.

One of my favorite games ever and a new one is finally announced and actually about to release the same year. This E3 is already a huge success in my book.

All the signs made the 2015 reveal a bit obvious, and it still looks pretty damn ass visually. But i'm buying it, and i'm sure it'll be great.

Looks like ass? nah man. Does it look amazing? Nope, but it looks decent enough. It actually looks significantly better than the reveal trailer, so that was a nice surprise. It really is crystal clear improvement over Bethesda's previous games. The face of the male/female protagonist especially, compare that to the uglies in Skyrim. :)

they have better faces i'll give you that. but it looks like everyone is still sharing the same 2 human bodies. ie. no short fat old guys/gals...eh. but the wastes still look ass, and the DOF implimentation should be MUCH better than it is here. it looks ass...i've accepted that.... but fallout always has compared to the competition. they're still great games despite that. i'm looking forward to it.

Ah yes, true. Those things have indeed remained the same. Man...imagine if they had used the Idtech engine. Maybe with Elder Scrols 6, who knows.

it might not be very suitible for open world games like this. might end up looking just as bad but requiring a lot more work. i think they need to set some time aside before elders scrolls and develop a new engine for their RPG's. no foundation in their current engine. a completely new, from scratch engine. they have the money and manpower. it will just delay the next elders scrolls. but i'd happily take that option over the next elders scrolls looking as janky as this.

Agreed on that. But with all that said..i am confident we're going to love Fallout 4 and i bet some locations are going to look really damn cool, in terms of atmosphere and what not.

well atleast we know 1 dev who is not faking gameplay to look better than what it is...because the graphics in this look average at best

it seems a thing this new generation...using ok lighting to try hide the fact the textures are very below par

pff.. I don't care how good a game is, if I thought it looked like ass I wouldn't want to play it. But I think this game looks nice enough.

You keep saying this & making out like it's something insidious. If they can hide low res assets by using better lighting, then great!

textures look a little bit low res but at least they finally created people who have a different body type. Everyone in fallout 3 had the same naked body character model when you steal their clothes. This new guy looks like he actually lived in a vault eating well compared to the other guy in fallout 3.

You were raised in a multi-generation vault in Fallout 3. In this game, it appears that you've been in suspended animation for 200 years.

Moaning about the graphics... if you want a game that looks like The Order the sad truth is you'll get The Order. If You want a game that's open world and 200+ hrs, the majority you'll play wont look as impressive as this. Looks great. To say it looks like "ass" is damn insane...and frankly, depressing.

we've had better looking open world games already... so it's hardly impossible. but you know what helps achieve nice visuals in an open world game? not using an old ass engine. i dont care if it's had improvements. it's foundation is an old ass engine.

Have we though? We have GTA5...which looks awesome, but has only a handful of buildings you can go into, and will no doubt be a hell of a lot smaller than this...I'd also argue against it looking better really. And we have Witcher 3...which has aload of performance issues. That's 2 open world games that I believe rank as the best looking on console...i'd place this easily a long side them, regardless of it building on an old engine - which the most polished games always do.

then you'll be happy i guess. although what makes you think this wont have a load of performance issues? especially after their previous games... even their heavily scripted gameplay footage had painfully bad framerates. tbh i'm just seeing skyrim at marginally higher res (could be the Xbone version?)

speaking of building accessibility though...can we go in any building now without load times? have they mentioned that? that would be nice...but witcher does that too and looks a lot better visually.

Fallout 3 and skyrim rarely had performance issues...least not on 360. Ps3 they came out pretty shitty...so I can understand why you might feel a bit stung by bethesda's past. They also showed a hell of a lot last night, and it all looked polished, so hopefully that's a good sign that it will come out in a decent state...and without the hindrance of 'the cell' processor, I wouldnt expect there to be many issues on PS4.

i only played fallout on 360 (skyrim bored me to death before any of the major problems occured on PS3), and it definately had performance issues...lol. not to mention a wealth of bugs. it's a bethesda game. they all do. i've come to expect it. it's like a feature. something to look out for when you start playing. like corrupt saves or unfinishable questlines. lol. such polish

Sigh... a whole new generation of dumbing down graphics and tech specs on the PC version because: consoles.

We all know the story/gameplay will still be amazing but between this and Witcher 3, it's already getting old. Even the newest consoles are running most games at 30 fps or less. Really sucks.
