After a rather mediocre press conference, Microsoft is now releasing some assets of their games, starting with these Forza Motorsport 4 images. Update: Added the trailer filmed at the Microsoft press conference.
cant believe UFC got floor time and this game was hardly shown. The trailer they did show had it looking stunning.. and i really wanted to see more gameplay

There is a separate Forza 4 event I believe, quite a big one.
i hope so.. i know ME3 will be shown in more detail, and hopefully tomb raider.. but from MS this and gears are the only exclusives hitting this year and cant afford to be ignored.
I wouldn't call the press conference mediocre. Plus you do know that Microsoft have 4 more E3 events throughout the week don't you? Although 2 are dedicated to Gears Of War 3 (and Exile?) and Forza 4, the other 2 will be showing off other games.
and dropping a million credits on your dream car, you'd think it's off to the showroom to learn all about it. Well, that's not how it works. Not directly, anyway. The Career and Showroom aren't the same thing. The Showroom needs to be seen as a "new level," said Greenwalt - it's "not Career." The Showroom experience has around 10 hours of unique content, challenges, and cars to view, but it isn't tied to the vehicles you've earned and purchased through your racing career.
Sounds like there's only going to be a certain amount of cars rendered at that level of detail, not all 500+ cars in the game.

No, nothing to do with pride in their work. If they had that level of pride in their work they wouldn't export the modelling to asian countries for it to be done, despite the lower level of quality control there. Unlike Polyphony Digital who do all the modelling on site to ensure the synonymous with Gran Turismo accuracy and quality of the models. They also wouldn't force a permanent driving aid on their games only to slap on the tag 'simulator' as if a joke. Pride has nothing to do with it, only money.
That said this looks a big step up from forza 3 :) Hopefully we'll get this LOD models during races, and not just in photomode.

No. Turn 10 laughs at the way Poly handled GT5 in that way. It'll be 100% across the board.
Personally, being a petrol head, I'd much prefer Turn 10 put that kind of effort and care into their modelling. But casual gamers couldn't tell the difference, I suppose.
I don't believe we are getting 500 cars with that level of quality........it just can't be. I'll believe it when I see it, or when I hear something reassuring of this from Greenawalt or similar.
With that said, even if older models just get touched up it'll just look unbelievable, I'm convinced that regardless of the car model situation, this will be the best looking racing game of all time when it comes out.

I have seen the trailer, I also know those are 1080p with massive amounts of AA. I also have seen FM2 AND 3 pre-release media, I also own FM2 and 3, I know the disparity between what they show and what we get. They've caught me twice, not a third time. Not till I see someone sit down and play the damn thing with a direct feed.

The cars in FM3 were already made loaded with crazy detail, they just ran a lower "rez" model during races. It was mostly the lighting and shaders being weak anyway, and those do seem to have been addressed...
