Project cars has set a high bar and the yearly forza's makes each release less exciting. Ironically its greatest competitor is all it's other steller versions.

if the gameplay looks close to this good I'll be beyond happy. I think the rain and weather crap is over rated but people get all worked up about it so I guess turn 10 felt they had to add it. but Forza has been by far the best racing game on consoles for quite some time now and with the crazy amount of content and options I can see this being a truly amazing entry into the franchise. Honestly Forza is the main reason I even have an xbox one sitting next to my PS4, otherwise I would have been happy with just my PS4.

screen looks great, but i'm dissapointed they never showed gameplay at the reveal. also kinda bummed out there is no dynamic day/night or weather. it's all pre-baked/set in stone. it's awesome having weather change in front of your eyes making simple sunday drive of a race turn into something exciting.

It is nice if the frame rate is steady and the screen doesn't tear. Something that can't be said for Gran Turismo and Project Cars on console.

The Turn10 devs are amazing. When a game looks this good at 60fps and they still add weather effects, night racing, 450cars and new tracks you can't really complain.

I wish Polyphony woke up and announced a GT already. They'll likely impress us when they show something but it takes too long for me to care. And I hope they don't put PS2-era cars just to make number.

Xbox One is such a better console for racing/car fans.

i like the fact a series up to version 7 hasn't hit franchise fatigue yet personally. i get it's frustrating if you're gagging for a sim-ish racer. but bigger breaks between big franchise sequels need to be more of a thing. it would have made AC, COD etc far more barable if they wearn't anualised.

True but I would argue that the wait builds anticipation and GT really offer something different. Their conceptual car programme is something really interesting and fresh and one of many fresh offerings GT provides. Whilst forza has become a bit stale because of the frequency of releases and of sim releases around it.

Now look at what you have mentioned they are doing and the only difference between this and every racing sim before is the expectation it looks better. Will see if they offer elements like rally racing and the other varieties that GT offer.

Totally agree about the ps2 crap that was and is a no no. Sign me out if PD do it in GT7.

I don't see dynamic day/night cycles as necessary in this type of racers. In openworld racers like Forza Horizon it has a function. I understand FM6 has regular day/night races.

All they need to do is improve the replays and get rid of the center pivot axis physics.

unpredictible weather is a part of racing. it represents adaptability. maybe forza 7 will have it although i honestly think it's an engine limitation

Don't think dirt racing should mix with road racing in a sim game. For an arcade or sim-cade like Horizon, it just adds to the fun and there isn't any serious racing going on so just go for it.

On a proper sim it should be more complicated than that. You have physics for tires, suspension, engines, etc...
Adding dirt just makes that both sides of racing will be missing some major development to make it a proper sim.

The years waiting and franchise fatigue is bullshit when PD comes out with a mediocre GT5 after 5 or more years in the making. Then they fixed it with GT6 and they still took 3 years to do that.
Still there's no defense for anticipation when they're dishing out paid demos...

Dynamic weather is what mostly kills the performance in pCARS. I want constant 60 FPS in a game like this, and if that means pre-baked environment, so be it.

Dynamic weather would make the game more interesting. dynamic day/night i don't see how would be used as i doubt many races would last more than an hour or so.

i guess i'm used to long races in GT where it makes sense. maybe forza has no endurance races? but even in driveclub it's nice to have that moment of "oh shit, it's getting dark, time to adapt" it keeps things interesting.

time to adapt to what? can you change to wet tires mid-race in Driveclub? I doubt we're talking the same kind of rain here. From what I hear/read Forza's rain will actually impact in the racing.

And I played endurance races on PCars with dynamic weather. And before that in the F1 games. It's not as great as you make it out to be. Mainly because the rain makes me ruin my entire race.

Seeing how you love Driveclub, it makes me doubt very much your history of endurance racing on GT. Maybe you had all assists turned on or something.

Weather is a great way to mix up gameplay. Rain races are super tense when you don't have a bunch of assists on. It's not just about visuals.

I would say I enjoy the progression and look of Forza a lot more, and I would rather have a bunch of options I can pick and choose from in Forza games (especially if you mix in Horizon, which is the only way you get Forza to "yearly" status) than have to just wait and wait on Poly to finally release something. And the last release was pretty lackluster in a lot of freakin' ways, for both franchises. But for Forza it looked like a misstep where as with GT it looked like a lack of awareness from the developer.
But hey, competition is good. I just want a good sim with good fun progression.

have you driven in the wet in driveclub. it fucks you up. and night racing makes you blind. so yes. going from dry daytime to wet night-time requires adaption. not the "lets pitstop like a pussy and change my tires" variety, but "lets fight this shitty weather and pitch blackness like a boss" variety.

Yeah I'm sure the rain in DC "fucks you up". With assists you can't even turn off lol.

And "pitstop like a pussy" tells me everything about your endurance races with dynamic weather experience.

now that's what I call reaching lmao, of all the content being offered on that level with 1080p and 60fps it blows away other racers out right now. I can't see why anyone would complain about all that this game offers.

the most important part being gameplay that has little to no rivals

i'm talking about an arcade racer...you have 2 option. adapt to the situation, or fail. it seems a bit of dynamic weather turns you into a bit of a girl...lol
