Video Xbox One

Our Herculean team has brought a gameplay video of Crytek's Ryse: Sons of Rome. The exclusive Xbox One title is coming in November.

QTE or finisher, I hope it's turned off after the tutorials.

The shield formation was the coolest part, otherwise the gameplay seems standard and really a vehicle for the amazing presentation. Hope there's more to justify the 7 years in unclear development.

This game really impressed me at the time. I'm happier to see in this video that thee QTE finishers seem to be user triggered rather than standard for every kill like it seemed during the on-stage demo.

So I wonder how Quantic Dreams new approach to doing away for QTE will fair against games like this in comparison to that new trailer for Two Souls?

I expect that there will be an option to turn those off, but it only bothers me because of the slow motion cuts happening as often as they do. If it kept up the speed, even if it makes the timing harder. It looks flashy and sharp and there seemed to be plenty of diversity, but the fact that it constantly slows down got annoying because of the frequency of it.
Damn that tech is amazing though.

Agreed about the tech. Pretty amazing stuff there.

Not sure what you mean about the diversity though. Do you mean that sometimes they require you to press B for the scripted event instead of A or X? I guess it is just frustrating to see this be a semi interactive movie, BECAUSE the tech, setting, and feel seem so tight. The actual gameplay though is pretty much non-existent. It would be like the new superman movie stopping every 5 seconds and requiring you to press play on the remote and calling itself a game...

I've been one of Crytek's biggest critics, but this game surprised me by looking quite a bit better than I expected, and when seeing it played by other people, you start noticing things about the gameplay that you didn't see during the reveal. This isn't just a QTE fest, and doesn't have to be if you don't wish to play that way. Previews make it sound like the QTEs are completely not needed, and a huge concern that I had, that they would become extremely repetitive seems addressed by the fact that there should be well over a 100 unique QTE finish or fight animations. Plus there is customization among other things.

This may not end up being the greatest game, but I'm definitely now curious and may buy it at launch.

Beyond terrible. Awful animtaion, QTEs all the way and dreadful combat. Too much Spartacus lately doesn't help either and all I want is to kill many romans lol

agree. it doesnt seems to have much of an atmosphere either, all feels quite stilted. it looks quite nice though, but weirdly more impressed by crysis 3. everything else though is a bit...eh. hopefully just early days.

Gameplay looks like garbage, combat is very amateur IMO.

Sure looks amazing but that's about it.

I really hate action games set in this time period. Its as bad as the avalanche of modern military shooters. Just really worn out. I have zero interest in another god of war let alone this.

... soooo... .. . Another Saving Private Ryan opening? These flash visuals wont cut it at all for me. I might as well turn my original Xbox n play Conker's bfd... at least they took the piss of that scene instead of trying to remake such epic cheese... come on industry! What a load of crap. Why is it that video games r becoming such epic hollywood fails. But then again this E3 was all about guns n blood once more. Im not a hippy lol. But im over the same all style with different outfits... n now they will do the same with the excuse that there's more polygons running real time.. Pfffff
