Xbox 360 PS3

And to end the day, what could be better than a best of Silent Hill: Homecoming's first level ? After having cut out some puzzles and other long wanderings, we offer you some disgusting monsters, creepy settings, a really mean elevator, and, last but not least, the almighty Pyramid Head. What about that!

Noice.

Character model artists have pulled some great monsters out the bag... it's a crying shame that the human models just seem rather... a huge step back.

Although graphically it doesn't look that much better than an Xbox title, in motion it looks a HELL of a lot more impressive than most of the still shots that have been released.

As long as they get the gameplay right and cut out the infamous SH backtracking and aimless wandering I'm quite hopeful.

Edit: just seen the human/spider hybrid thing with its head coming out of its ass. Good lord!

Nice although it does look a bit last gen but then again the famous "grainy" filter is obviously switched on. Still a definite must buy for me. Anyone else think the part at 3:00 where he cuts the painting just seemed really "real". I watched it 3 times, the sound of the knife and the way the painting fell open, dunno just seemed kinda cool lol maybe just me, i felt the same the first time i sliced through a tent in Splinter Cell! :D

yes, very good, until you walk through and its totally rigid

and it looks damn fine. the original xbox would fry with this so don't start. It has nice lighting and stuff, decent textures. Maybe not really impressive, but it looks good, and is pleasing at least.

I like the Silent Hill franchise and probably will buy this game but I am really disappointed with the characters in this one. SH had the most realistic game characters to me at one point. Don't get me wrong the game looks great its just the (human) characters don't seem to have the lifelike touch of the old games.

That's it. I'm not getting this game. It doesn't look scarry in the least bit, almost everything has been taken from the film which was a complete failure, and WTF is Pyramid Head doing here???? This just pisses me off, it really, really does. They've officially raped and thrown out the Silent Hill series.

Man, they're ripping everything off the movie. first the transition effect (which I think is awesome!), then the nurses, and now Piramid Head! I want to see how they you justify the presence of PH in the game. he appeared originally on SH2, but he had very important meaning. I guess the meaning will be gone now.

anyway, day one purchase.

I hate how Konami has resorted to whoring out Pyramid Head. In SH2 he's probably one of the coolest characters of all time, but now that I see him in the movie, the arcade game, and THIS, it really takes away the impact. And the game in general looks like shit. I used to love this series too

I don't know if it's just me, or maybe it was due to the dance dance revolution or whatever the fuck was going on in the background distracting me -- but it really had 0 eerie or disturbing elements.

And I don't like how they've changed pyramid head, anyone who is familiar with the series especially 1&2 knows that the creepy and morbid like awkwardness and horror he used to bring seems no longer present. Unless there is something to replace this, along with many other great elements that made the original games, it's just going to be formulaic and cheesy.

i agree completely. i enjoyed all silent hill games, and i even enjoyed the movie. but this is taking way too much inspiration from the movie and its lost something in the process. pyramid head was creepy, and dangerous looking in SH2, that fight with him and his twin near the end was epic. this looks like a wannabe, a scrawney guy with a metal tent on his head...kinda like the movie. but in the movie it worked alright. doesnt mean i want it in the game. same goes for the nurses, the movie had an interesting take on them, making them almost "sexy"...but i dont want that in the game. not that the enemies should be in the game anyway since they have no relevance to the main character this time round, unlike SH2 where they did.

i mean, i love SH2, its my fave of the series by FAR. and i appreciate they want to bring back what made the series great by mimicing that game. but they've gone a step too far imo

Anyone who read the BOLM, knows that every monster/Boss in SH 1/2, has a specific Metaphoric meaning.
Putting in thing from the movie(Nurses, PH, etc)only confirm to me, that there isn't the same "metaphoric stratification" that was in the first 2 games of the series.
...wich is lame.

Kinda wish the A button didn't pop up by things you tore through and you just did it. "Hit A to Cut" or "Hit A to Chop". I think it would be more satisfying

Iirc, Pyramid Head is meant to be an angel or demon who represents revenge, or something. He is referred to in the other games and isn't just (even though he is) a representation of James' self-loathing/guilt, as it ties into the occult side of Silent Hill too as an executioner.

Seeing as nothing is really known about the story of this game, I'd imagine they'd have tied it all in somehow.
