well i dont doubt that scene is done realtime. However if its a game with lots of action and large environments such high detail wouldnt really be possible. As far the demo itself very impressive. Some things I hate though about current animation techniques of the face. People do not smile like that. In all the nextgen games when people smile they go into sort of scream face mode. She looked kool as hell when she was moody and doing her close mouth scary smile. But the wide smile is just wrong.

oh and im suprised the first thing to come out of e3 from sony that is actually worth watching lol.

Wow, the animation is bad. Stinks of bad motion capture. This is no improvement from current gen games. Horrible lip sync. Facial expression? What facial expressions...

Anyone seen Stahlberg's real-time work? Much better work done 5 years ago.

Indigo Prophecy had some asstastic graphics, but the story and presentation kept me glued to my computer for hours. This demo is cool, but still needs a ton of work. Hopefully they can pull it off, because I cannot wait to see what this studio can come up with.

That kind of creeped me out, not sure why, but she just looks creepy. I thought the Tiger Woods tech stuff from the conference was pretty creepy too.

hmm, i'm not sure what all the fuss is about after seeing the vid. it's really not that great. the environment is pretty awesome, but the character model and animation really isn't that great. i would expect more from such a closed environment, and better animation and character model. there's a lot of real good stuff there as well though

Promising. Not quite there yet, though. I'll be looking forward to whatever David Cage et al will be making next. And if you were wondering the about the actress...

im glad it wasnt just me that was unimpressed by the scary character animation. Its even scarier in the football and basketball titles on the xbox 360 at the moment. The graphics, the texture quality and all the effects are great. But they really need to work on character animation its still far from being cg quality like toy story or monsters inc.

Edit: oh or advent children. Which is a great example of how motions should be expressed in computer graphics.

some bits were suerbly realistic but just as with the first Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit...it has that certain "unfinished" feel about it.
Also i hated Fahrenheit...can't explain here why (wud be way too long)...I wrote an article about how much it sucked and converted all of my friends to hating it....ha. But really, great face expressions.

ezekiel, the environment thing doesnt mean squat....if u have a good eye u would notice that mgs4 models are more complex,a little hint ...compare the fingers and hair geometries, and there are many of them in larger environments....
of course heavy rain really impress for its realism but mgs4 isnt even going toward 100% realism(its the mgs series style)and its still better from a technical point of view...
basically mgs4 looks better...i wish we could have a 15min hd footage...it would give us the same creepy uncanny valley effect like heavy rain....

Hope it turns out like that in the final game. Eye textures look a little overkill though.
