Perhaps I'm looking at something different, but there are definitely small areas (especially in the first piece) that have artifacts as a result of resizing. It's pretty common when scaling down 2D artwork.. I'm not talking about the brush strokes themselves, but small uniformed jaggies. I thought that's what he was pointing out.
Only small areas are effected, it doesn't look like part of the original image -- and as an artist I've encountered this effect a good number of times myself. I don't think those are brush strokes.
Just one question... When did they start developping this game?? This art has been done in 2005??
