The gameplay video of Alan Wake was the highlight of Microsoft's entire conference for me. It's a shame that the game isn't coming out intil Spring 2010, but it really does look like it'll be worth the wait.

Not only is it visually stunning, but the atmosphere is top notch.

Yeah I agree that the game looked awesome. Easily the best part of the conference.

I am cool with the release time. More polished game for me.

You can view the gameplay footage on Youtube:

Rubbish quality (unsurprisingly), but it's still viewable I guess.

Wow, can't believe this is 4 years work. its not nearly as beautiful as they showed last time. yeas it was cutscene back then I know.

I just can't believe when I saw that waterfall, c'mon 4 years for two plain textures? Uncharted 2 looks thrice beter. lighting is gorgeous though but gameplay is same run and gun stuff. I remember they boasted physics once...a jeep shot back with a bullet? wait a sec...

Resident Evil 5 took same time to develop, is multiplatform, plays in co-op and still looks way more beautiful. I'm not dissing the game, its just they took 4 years to make this? a Silent-Hill/secret-window clone?

To love this game, I'll have to leave 4 years mark out of my mind.

disappointing showing for Microsoft this E3.

Crackdown 2, L4d2.. both welcome. But neither will be hitting this year.
Splinters cell will be a timed exclusive, theres no way it will never hit the ps3.

Motion camera.. great tech, but lets be honest they'll never be a "must have game" for it. Its a noviety.. its like the eyetoy before it. And it will be supported by forgetable noviety games in the vaine of nintendo dogs, or the Dreamcasts seaman. Most of us didnt get our 360's for that.

Alan Wake really needed to hit this year. So its a bitter disappointment to me to learn that its still a YEAR away.. and now rumoured to be episodic.

So basically for this year we're looking at microsoft supporting their console (in terms of exclusive full content software for the anal here) with only 2 full games.. and one of those was an RTS.

Not good enough

actually...no!
it has great lighting, yes, but that's basically all. atmosphere is not terryfying, being a 4 years in making, console exclusive title, its a far cry from a slap ;)

I may be wrong, but isn't this an open world game anyway? Taking that into consideration, this shits on Resident Evil 5 and, to an extent, Uncharted 2. Furthermore, the atmosphere has been absolutely nailed, the voice-acting's top notch, the visuals are stunning, and the gameplay itself actually looks interesting. The same old "run and gun stuff"? Are you being serious? I love how the light pays a key role in eliminating the enemies, while the cinematic style of the combat is fantastic. Far from your run of the mill combat, that's for sure.

I genuinely can't understand how you can't be impressed by this, even with the knowledge that it's been in development for that long.

and it's developed by pretty small team too.

I can't wait for this. I have been waiting for a new Remedy game since MP2 and it seems the game is going to be hot.

About the episodic content. I am pretty sure last time they said the game is in episodes and the Alan Wake is like picking up the first season for TV series.

Yeah the episodes are part of the game, the game itself is the whole season. A lot of people got confused by it when they announced it, thinking that each episode would be released separately.

I've loved Remedy ever since the Max Payne games, so it's hardly surprising that the game is looking this brilliant.

Stunning yes, but I saw some flickering too which will have to be solved pronto. And the car's shadow, if any, is terribly done.

The main deception I experience at the moment is the fact that this game seems to be Sci-Fi. Which is something I don't like at all.

looks very nice, although cut scenes need alot of work...characters exhibit the same dead eyes as in Max Payne...really unconvincing considering how the visuals are pretty spiffy

Imagine if they were demonstrating a game which is nearly a year a way from release.

The exclusivity is just a little too much for some people. I bet they'll still say Heavy Rain looks better. The game demonstration was super impressive, this will be amazing, no matter how much bitter nit-picking fanboys do. Oh yeah, for future reference, the word you're looking for is Novelty...

yeah, as I said its trying to create the atmosphere of a supernatural happening, but his commmentary of events and electric-fireworks blistering "teleporting" beings + telekinesis driven junkyard items totally ruins that.
