PC Xbox 360 PS3

The nice developers of Ubisoft Montréal took some time for us with a developer walkthrough of Far Cry 2 and here is the first part of it, played on Xbox 360. The mission is quite similar to the Ubidays demo, but it has a much better AI and a finally stable framerate. More importantly, the player is far more gifted than last time, and it changes a lot. Following parts will come soon.

Wow, this game looks amazing, even on consoles. The dynamic vegetation and volumetric lighting looks great.

Is anyone else shocked that the aging 360 is putting out these types of graphics? Holy crap.

Not me.

Overall this game is shaping op well, although I think/hope there is more to the gameplay. AI definitely needs to improve.

Even on? Where have you been since, the 360 was released? lol
Why is he aiming down the ironsights every single time he is shooting at someone, even at like 5m range? I hope this isnt one of those games where your accuracy magically goes up (or bullet spread goes down) just because you are aiming down the sights :(

no. graphics depend on more than just hardware. the proper engine is what really matters.

I haven't seen any open-world games with this level of detail on the PS3 or 360. Care to name me some? Oblivion looks pretty bad compared to this. I expected the textures to look a little bland on the console versions.

Since there's no crosshair it kind of makes sense... ironsights=more accurate shooting. You don't have to use them if you don't want but it'll make picking off enemies a hell of a lot easier

I hope they were playing on "Retarded difficulty" otherwise the game is in some serious need of damage balancing. Far Cry Rambo?

The AI is absolutely awful. Other than that it looks pretty good though, maybe a bit slow. I'm sure if the AI was improved that would make it more intense though. It's sad to see that once you've seen a game for the first time however, the AI rarely improves before release. Developers always say they're working to make it better, but I never see it.

finally! no flashing arrows, no automated arrows pointing to the objective, just the raw nature, a compass and a map to navigate!!!

i still miss the crosshair...i think a game shouldn't have to be too realistic, if it becomes too difficult with it.

first time i've seen far cry 2 run at a solid framerate.. and it took them to show it on a 3yr old console that people constantly insist has peaked to do so.

Looks great, AI could be better... thats the worse irish accent i've ever heard though.

There's really no evidence out there that the 360 has shown its age graphically yet; the newest games still manage to wow people with its visuals. Oblivion is a poorly optimized, 1st-generation PC port that simply isn't an indicator of the 360's power.

Wasn´t that impressed to be honest. Too bad it´s a FPS game, so sick of those now.

too much backlight in the environment
not very stable framerate

don't forget this is indirectly captured so everything looks very sharp and detailed... wait for the direct captures

finally, Far Cry never moved me and the sequel doesn't look like it's gonna change this.

The thing with Far Cry on consoles is that the aiming is dreadful. Here's me hoping they have improved upon that.
