Wow, I haven't played a flying game since Crimson Skies... Now I may change thanks to this skillfully done trailer.

KORNdog, the series has been like this since Ace Combat 4 (at least story wise).

Very predictable joke/ comment but as Doom Bringer says the over the top war stuff has always been the backdrop to these games only now they have moved away from the fictional earth of the previous titles.

If this is half as exciting as the trailers make it appear it will possibly be my GOTY, really high time for a war game that stays focused away from the grunts on the ground, like literally every other fucking game out there. No infantry force wins any conflict without air power.
