Trailer Xbox 360

One of the biggest announcement for Microsoft at this E3 was Project Natal, promising gameplay without controllers. Let's wait and see how accurate the whole thing is.

i think this looks amazing and the on stage demo showed it actually works that good. I'm sure some people can come up with some great ways to use it.
i would buy it just so i could turn my xbox off by saying goodnight ;)

not something i'd buy myself, much like the eye toy, but the tech is certainly impressive.

Before the demonstrations I wasn't interested at all, but now... I think I would actually buy it.

The Lionhead demo was just jaw-dropping.

its times like this you have to ask yourself.. just how many motion control games on the wii that arent made by nintendo are must have games? Just how well did games like You're in the movies, scene it, viva pinata party, and lips, as casual games sell on the 360?

The tech is great. But given that 1) its not being sold in the box as standard like the wii remote. 2) casual games dont sell well on the 360 because the wii's existing customer base is not the 360's existing customer base. 3) its a noviety, the software will be noviety.. and wont have nintendo behind it. I cant see how this will pay off for them.

Also what happens when you have people sat next to like in that video? theres no control to hold on to so whats to stop an arm of another person suddenly effecting your game?

I'd much rather Microsoft of invested in some actual games for this year. Instead their full games offering this year look to amount to nothing more than a RTS and a racing game.

I wasn't interested until the demonstation, either. I'm gonna pick this up just for the tech, and my wife was like, " I don't care how much it costs, I want that"! Talk about a first...

jaw dropping and incredibly fake. it made eye pet seem perfectly feasable. theres just no way it will be anything approaching that when or if its released.

Well if that isn't jumping the gun, what is?

They're demonstrating it (Milo included) to the press behind closed doors. Wait a couple of days and read the press opinion before jumping to conclusions.

The concern about playable games with this little tool is a real one. And this is what will probably make it flop. But I'm quite sure MS is aware of that problem. I guess they see it as investment in the future and some devs will play with the possibilities (the first party ones certainly will), and they can build upon it. It certainly is an exciting new tech, and what Peter had to show creeped me out.

Since how Peter work with hype I will take all things from Milo with loads of salt before real gameplay videos.

exatly, molyneaux (sp?) is known for is over-promise and over-hype, and has he EVER delivered? the answer would be no.

the animations, combined with the fluidity of speach is well beyond anything seen ANYWHERE. the chances of it being even close to that are slim to non. i'd love to be proven wrong, becasue it does LOOK impressive. but then so does eyepet, and that is about as fake as it gets.

Looks pretty cool. I'd love to just sit down in front of my 360 and it sign me in automatically!

Can it distinguish between the real me and a big photo of me though? I hope so.

You are certainly right there, but if there is one thing Lionhead does do well, is interaction with AI pets. We'll have to see, but little Milo responded way to fluidly and specifically for me to bite quite yet... Also, the camera sees things in three dimensions, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be fooled by a photo...

A new Eyetoy...made by MS...out of pathetic desperation to steal the casual market away from Nintendo.

They said it will be packaged with all future 360's. The technology makes the Wii remote and even the motion plus completely obsolete, with the right amount of backing and games to back it up, I think it could easily infiltrate the market.

I think what most people are missing here is that Milo was a tech demo, not an actual game. But a tech demo they are going to allow people at e3 to try out. If it doesn't work at all, we're going to know about it very soon. My guess is that he can only respond to certain movements and phrases but even then it's very impressive.

Imagine something like this implemented for Fable 3 or basically an RPG. Being able to actually interact with a character like that would be amazing. Having characters act so uniquely and be able to pick up on how you yourself are behaving, and being able to hand them items, etc..

Nothing about it looked pathetic nor desperate. Infact, they've suceeded in creating far more imersive and easy to play system than even Nintendo, let alone Sony. The Xbox Live Vision Camera is the Xbox's Eye Toy.

THIS is nothing like that.

The way I see it there are several problems with this system. For example, how exactly are you supposed to move forwards and backwards in a 3D space, walk on the spot? How about shooting games, are you expected to make a gun shape with your hands and point at the screen the whole time?
The tech is VERY clever but it's applications seem to be limited to games where movement through the game is predefined or fixed.

Not only that but having a controller of some sort in your hands gives you a sense of tactile feedback that will be missed if taken away. A racing game for example is much better when you have a physical wheel, gearstick and pedals to move/press.

It looks to me like this is just another gimmicky casual market aimed POS, however that sort of stuff does have a huge market and is making Nintendo a whole bunch of money atm so Good luck to them I guess.

As for FPS, scan of objects. Look at the Skateboard game, could be done with a platstic gun.

As for movment, good point. I can only see a wireless one hand controll as a solution.

This could save RTS for the console. A dreamworld would be StarCraft 3 with this cam.......fuck got a boner.

My question is.

How hard will MS get slamed if they make Fighiting and Gun games?

Just imagine the media fire when kids in realtime and the kick beats guys on a TV screen. Thats a "TV games created killer" reality.

That's true. Did anyone else see that rts commercial recently that two people played out on a table? They moved all their ships and units with their hands (I forget what game it was). Looks like that is closer to reality than we thought
