ACTIVISION PUBLISHING, INC. AND PLATINUMGAMES INC. CHANGE THE FIGHT IN TRANSFORMERS: DEVASTATION

New action-brawler video game lets fans experience the TRANSFORMERS like never before

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – June 16, 2015 – Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), today announced it is teaming up with acclaimed development studio PlatinumGames Inc. to release a groundbreaking new game starring the TRANSFORMERS Generations characters. Based on Hasbro’s colossal entertainment franchise, TRANSFORMERS: Devastation is a third-person action-brawler game with a breathtaking comic book-inspired visual style.

Forged with PlatinumGames’ gift for fast-paced action and mesmerizing art design, TRANSFORMERS: Devastation harnesses the unique abilities of its heroes to convert from robot to vehicle form to extraordinary effect. In this incredibly dynamic, combo-fueled experience, players battle as one of five AUTOBOTS – OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, SIDESWIPE, WHEELJACK and GRIMLOCK. Throughout the game, players unlock new skills, forge new weapons, and augment their characters to battle against the vicious DECEPTICONS, including MEGATRON and the powerful combiner DEVASTATOR.

PlatinumGames utilizes cel-shaded artwork to create contemporary versions of the bold, brightly colored designs of the original TRANSFORMERS characters. The game features a story inspired by the IDW comic book universe and includes the talents of legendary voice actors like Dan Gilvezan as BUMBLEBEE, Frank Welker as MEGATRON and SOUNDWAVE, Gregg Berger as GRIMLOCK, and Peter Cullen as OPTIMUS PRIME.

TRANSFORMERS: Devastation is expected to arrive later this year on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC via Steam. not a fan of this genre really but I loved the gen1 stuff so much as a kid seeing this art style really makes the game look far more fun than it probably is lol.

No, I'm excited because I'm a huge Platinum games fan (loved Anarchy Reigns), the fact it's TF Gen 1 only adds to it. Emphasis on gameplay, get it?

Let me know if normal mapped skin pores on Aeris when she dies in a telegraphed way (because you already know when and how it happens) in any way makes FF7 better, ok?

So essentially, you get to be excited for a game based on a franchise you like, from a developer with a pedigree. But if anyone else feels the same towards a game you don't like, they are fucking idiots? Gotcha.

Gonna keep it real simple for you - this isnt a remake. This has a new gameplay system I've never played. This is miles apart from FF7. What part do you not get?

Also, I never said someone was "an idiot for liking the FF7 remake". I said it was a pointless remake. 2 vastly different things.

I don't see that there is much of a difference, no. The fact that one is a remake that you personally don't want to play doesn't make it any less valid as a game. It's pointless in YOUR opinion. A lot of people, me included, would disagree. There's plenty to upgrade and make better in the game, thus making it very much worth while. You see, when i was in my teens i loved this game. Looking at it today though, the PS1 graphics aren't exactly amazing, and the shitty midi music sounds pretty terrible. Even the CG looks awful by todays standards. A remake would mean that they could convey a lot of the stuff now only described in text with visuals as well, visuals that just weren't possible on the PS1. There's loads of good reasons to bring it up to the current gen. The obvious irony is that you yourself said that the game is all about the story, and it's exactly in the storytelling department the remake will have the big avenues for improvement.

If the remake is pointless, that would imply that people are idiots for still wanting it or being hyped for it.

I understand the nostalgia based cell animation "look" but they better have a more traditional CGi like graphics mode if this is gonna be on Xone and PS4 or all that power of those consoles is just wasted.
