Ubisoft gave us access to a 4K B-Roll, so we took the opportunity to edit the footage we received and to record our impressions on Watch Dogs: Legion.

particularly i'm not too happy how the story mode went from the attraction to secondary and 3rd.
however games today don't necessarily need to depend on story, a good portion of todays gamers go for a better co-op experience. hopefully this has a local co-op mode. it would be pretty interesting to see where it goes.
Jumping above and riding drones, running around as invisible character, I cant just digest all these together.
It is too early to like or dislike this game though, hopefully future trailers and gameplays may seem more interesting to me.
My expectation was something different.
Narrative will probably take a huge hit too since we don't get a fixed character and they can die just at any moment, as a result, there will hardly be any character arc. The villains that they've revealed so far feel weak and be evil just for evil's sake.
To make things worse, they are reusing animations for Aiden and Marcus. Mixing with the new animations, the presentation is just a step down compared to the quality of the previous titles.
All in all, the overall system/mechanic feels meant for an Assassin's Creed game instead of Watch_Dogs. Maybe the game was originally an AC pinch but they slapped the WD name on it anyway..
but it does destroy any chance of the series reconnecting with those gamers that were attracted to the E3 2013 trailer. turning the series into a MMO battle royal would be the next step in direction. seeing how more MMO gamers are attracted to this. we'll see how it turns out. the possibility though of this going full MMO is there.
I mean the only reason the original was hyped up was because it looked really nice and really unique. Little did we know it would be the go-to example of downgrading visuals of the entire generation, consist of shallow automated hacking and have a hyper serious, super boring story staring a protagonist that no-one liked.
...And then came the sequel, while finally looking really nice visually, was litterally nothing like the first one stylistically or tonally. It was a hipster hacker douche fest ...but it finally played well at least.
The franchise up to now is about as inconsistent as they come. Legion also being different shouldn't be surprising anyone at this point.
legion is ambitious project, but will it have some limtations when we take control over any NPC? There must be - at the end of the day any open world game at one point becomes super repetitive. If there are tons of possibilities and unique events could be cool, but we still have yet to see that.
Games rarely have any sense of risk involved and certainly no sense of loss. You just re-spawn and start again. X-com however captured that sense of loss. It was fucking gutting having a good squad member die. And I expect or at least hope the same will be true here.
