Xbox 360

Atari released yet a big bunch of images from Test Drive Unlimited, now planned for a September release. The HUD images looks absolutely gorgeous, and who knows what will happen if they actually succeed with the concept. PGR4 MMO, here we come? Oh, and don't forget to check out that awesome Ferrari and its front lights.

Looks like they are trying to engage the player in a more personal way by giving us the ability to create characters. Long time since I saw a driving game with a nice story. Are there even any?

I have to see some gameplay, like very extensive gameplay. The graphics are passable. Oh and I hope PGR never goes MMO. Oh and they better have gotten that gameplay nicely, because that's what you'll be doing most of the time, something many driving games simply forget about. Ironic, I know.

Does Pixar's Cars count?

I haven't played NFSMW that much, but they did hire actors and all. I don't know if they can get the story better than that with a bunch of metal.

I hate the fact that the roads are a little bit "liftened up" compared to the surroundings, the grass and such. If you slip off the road you're... well, f'd. I guess you are. Thinking of how you first bumps off the road and then meet up with some slippery grass. When you're a couple of hundred players on one island, I *predict* there will be some time when you get bumped off the road.

i've been convinced by it's concept ever since the first showing at last years MTV05-event but the graphics haven't really improved (maybe it is just my memory that is failing me)

I think that is actually based on the roads on Oahu though, I can see your point but it could add some tactical shunting into the mix! :P

I love the HUD shots as they are basically confirming that the actual game will look like the screenshots and will not be a jaggiefest like PGR3.

The game looks great, but the car models stick out like a sore thumb. I really think the backgrounds are not recieving enough attention to detail as the cars.

Wouldnt hurt if the geometry had lightmaps. Currently they are only burning lightmaps into the terrain texture, and that is not enough. Lightmaps on geometry gives you SO MUCH with so little effort its unacceptable to not render them.

Oh well back to PGR3 that, again, does it right.

Wow some of those screen look almost real. There's a lot of detail in this game.

For such a huge game that amount of detail is amazing.

So what *exactly* is the point of this game? From the HUD I can't figure that out. I can see a little person icon, maybe the point of the game is to taxi people around the island...? How long until the novelty of that wears off...

WTF are you talking about. If there's one thing Atari know how to do, its making great driving games with amazing physics. The Physics will be amazing based on Stuntman, the cop chases will be the bomb based on the Driver's and the freedom in the game looks unbelievable.

Will finally be able to trade PGR3 for something:)
