Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

Final Fantasy XIII hit the Japanese shelves in December but it will be available in Europe and North America soon. It is therefore not surprising to see this English trailer of the game. Get your Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 for the March release.

Eek... I'll stick with subtitles lol. I hate English overdubbed stuff because it sounds so melodramatic and forced most of the time. I'm the same way with anime.

Because it jsut sounds insanely corny in english? Also the actors aren't exactly the best in the business. Dubbing sucks ass, it's as simple as that :)

Also, what the F**K is with the shitty music? First SFIV and now this? Why the **!"#!¤#***!"¤"¤%#&/ would they use some shitty Maria Carey crap!? It's f***ing horrible.

Looks beautiful, sounds HORRIBLE. That music, wow, just horrific, and so totally wrong for the game. Shockingly bad.

The voice acting is at best mediocre, for a JRPG dub, but is more often terrible. I'm sick of whiny Americans voicing JAPANESE RPGs.

FFS Square, you have no excuse not to use the space on the BD to include the original Japanese voice track. It's obvious it was cut to save QA costs and stop the PS3 version being superior to the big bundle of retro DVDs that will be the 360 version.

I guess I'll have to pay through the nose and get the Japanese import.

What music would have suited this trailer better then? I am not a fan of her music, but to fit into what they wanted to emote, they would have had to use something similar.

Am a fan of Leona Lewis myself and its a nice enough song, not sure they should have had her vocals with the voice work though, should have been instrumental until they shut up talking at least.

The Dub isn't that bad, its not great either, too bad they didn't give us FF12 quality writing though.

If your happy not to understand whats going on then go for it.

The music volume interferred with the dialogue, it's simply too loud. The song I think is quite fitting. Arent you tired of the same japanease themes ? This is a welcome change. You all heard the music, this is just the theme song. It has nothing to do with the way the soundtracks were made. check the music in the videos all over the net.

I guess we can all be happy that most of us actually dont understand Japanese.
In Animes and Video games, the Japanese dubs do also sound stupidly melodramatic and I can not imagine Japanese people to talk like that in daily life...

So I can life with the English dub!

Very true.

Still, I've heard much better dub work. And the Japanese melodrama is easier to digest because it's foreign. Given that, and how they could've fit a Japanese track on the PS3, I'm mad they didn't.

Seriously. I saw an interview with one of the producers; half of it was about the lack of multiaudio. The real reason, of course, is that they know people will still buy it or just import it. So why listen to the fans?

The japanese over acting is easier to buy in to because ALL japanese stuf is like that, that's just how it is. When you try to bring that over in to english it just doesn't work. Not that i think would like FFXIII any more if it were in japanese mind you. I just don't understand why you'd want it dubbed. Original language for the win. And to anybody too lazy to read subtitles, let's just say that you should be happy that you have English as your mother tongue :P

I agree that the PS3 version should have the option. I can understand why the 360 version is limited in that area as it is on multiple discs even with only one voice track but there's no reason for the PS3 version to skip it. I just don't believe that the game is THAT massive :)

I just wish they'd put the damn Japanese voices in there so I wouldn't have to hear the consant bitching about dubs that sound just like any anime dub. I personally can't stand the majority of japansese character voices. Seriously, there may be many different actors doing the voices, but there are only about 4 types. Drives me crazy. And the acting doesn't sound better either. Just cheezier.
At least they spent the time and money to dub the english AND sync the lips.

Tbh Lightning's voice is passable, I can deal with her's. Snow on the other hand, & Vanille & the token black guy (though I guess Jrpgs are riddled with stereotypes) are going to be difficult to get used to hehe.

The worst part is the sort of gasping they do when in shock, that just feels very outdated and to recycle the word some of you have used, forced. Current hardware is more than capable of expressing SOME sort of emotion through facial expressions.

Having said all that, I can't wait to play the game, reminds me a lot of FFX which I loved.

Thanks Gamersyde :)

Oops, forgot my original thought, 'cuz I know you all care ;). The background music stuff seems to happen in a lot of Japansese trailers. I don't understand because, like alimokrane said, it interferes with the dialogue. The Japanese seem to like their Pop music in everything, unlike here. I always saw it as a big editing no-no, but I guess it's a culture thing. That being said, you'd think they'd look at what kinda stuff flies in different regions. Of course, I don't have a problem with them doing their own thing and not stickin' with the norm, but I can't say I like it...

I will honestly be pissed if an International Version releases in Japan with dual audio, especially after they said it couldn't be done. But who am I kidding. Of course it will and it will have various improvements that we'll never see. Still, I am excited for the game.

Hell, if you need to lip synch FMV, just give us the same compressed video that the 360 version has and give us the uncompressed video featured in the original JP release. That way you could fit everything in!

Unless they are already giving the PS3 version the same compressed video as the 360 version in the Western release...

PS3 will get a multiple voice option in the International version no doubt, but you will probably have to wait at least a year to see that.

Actually, it may come out this year since the JP release came out in December of 09 and I'm assuming that due to whatever marketing clause MS and SE has over FFXIII, it will remain Japan only.

To be fair, the english VA is just fine. However, the Leona Lewis song doesn't fit the trailer and I am worried about the fate of the other Japanese vocal songs that played during FFXIII at certain moments of gameplay. Will they be replaced and by what?

They wanted it to be more "western" style? Realy no... Music isn't all that matters, clothing, fighting style, etc... There are lots of things they would need to change if the goal would be "make it more acceptable for the rest of the world". Original music fits it more, because it's meant to be like that. Voice acting is too steril for me, and smthing like bored.

Overall they proly failed at the eyes of the fans with this, but maybe they won some of the casual, "not so friendly with jrpgs" people with it.

Er no, I for one HATE Japanese voice acting. Its high pitch overreacting crap. Why would I want it dubbed? Because I like to play my games in English. Its that simple. I don't care what is the original language I wanna play my games in a language I understand.

Anyway, The voices are top notch. The trailer is badly but together that why you guys thing its bad. Give it a chance guys.

As for My Hands, I hear some people that beated the Japanese version said that the song will fit the ending movie and this is where the song is going to be used. I don't see why people are complaining about a 4 minutes song. I do agree that the song is a bit loud in the trailer. :)

Don't really think Sony has the rights to either of those games. Also Chrono Trigger got a sequel, Chrono Cross. It's quite good. There's a bunch of games in the Mana series too, none of them particularly good imo. Don't mmiss FFXII either, i know it gets a lot of crap from jrpg tards, but it really is a good game. One of the best the series has to offer imo.

Unless you are illiterate i don't see how subtitles forces you to play a game in a language you don't udnerstand. Also i don't think "beated" is a word :P
