The black Monkey outfit is the best outfit in that game IMO, the rest is meh.

Games go gold prior to release date. So most makers usually start on DLC as soon as a game goes gold. If they're going to make DLC anyways, minus well put them to work right when the project is finished instead of waiting until the game is released (which depending on the release window they're reserved with RL stores in advanced, could be months). As for why the release date DLC usually isn't free... They have to earn the $ they've spent creating it somehow, even if it was created after going gold but prior to game release... Just my 2 cents.

IMO, costume changes are OK for DLC. I mean, It's not a game changer, and it's not like it only comes with 18 cars and then release day they come out with 18 more. HEY-OH...

There's a good chance this DLC is given for those who preorder the game. We're looking into it.

Actually different stores are doing it right now.

Gamestop has the ninja outfit for Monkey, Webhallen here in Sweden has the Robot Rip outfit, thats the only ones I know.

I can certainly appreciate that they wanted to put a "sexy" costume in-game for the female lead character, but that's pretty awful looking.

It wasn't that long ago that developers put alternative costumes, weapons, etc. into a game as UNLOCKS free of charge, because 1) they could, 2) it added replay value and 3) it made fans happy.

Nowadays all of that stuff that would have been merely unlockable costs extra.

It's total crap. You can try to justify it however you like but it's the worst thing to happen to gaming in years.

Well, considering the cost of games hasn't gone up much for the consumer( I still remember some 16 bit games being 70 bucks), there had to be some cuts somewhere. Game development costs astonomically more than they used to to make, so I think it's an acceptable compromise and makes the devs that do give us those things for free special...

True, but there are far more tools for developers now than there were back then. Most games are not written from scratch these days, so they cut costs there. And we were paying for the silicon in those cartridges too.

I guarantee you, if there was no DLC vessel today, these costumes would have made it into the ratail game anyways.

This game looks really uninspiring to me anyway, maybe because when I was a little kid the classic monkey TV show was one of my favourites. To me they have completely fucked the dog in terms of wasting the potential of this legendary tale by making such bland and generic main characters, especially monkey.

He should be part man/ part monkey not some tool with eye makeup and cliched tatoos...just awful. I guess they have also completely jettisoned the Buddhist themes as well...ahhh it's just crap.
