Takes me back to the days of oldschool PC shooters :] I usually find Raven to be inferior to ID Software, but hopefully they do a good job on this one.

i'm expecting a timeshift quality (or lack of) experience, but i'd love it to be better. the premis seems cool.

timeshift is what came to mind for me as well. I sure hope this game is better as timeshift was a pile of crap IMO. Seems games that rely on time bending gimmicks, or just too many gimmicks, suffer quite often in the gameplay department. Shooters usually do best when they focus on SHOOTING in my experience. I'd say environment is also a big plus, which this game still might do well on.

the vids haven't shown much promise IMO but I'd love to be wrong.

See, the problem with time-manipulating games is, there's a lot more to account for than just aging something. There has to be a consistency and believability to it.

There has to be limits in any game. And with time-manipulating, you're cheating, so there has to be cooldown to each move you do. Like, if you're aging an enemy to death, it has to take long, so other enemies can shoot you.

This is why I'm worried if the developers are good enough for that kind of balance.

my main worry with this games time manipulation is that is isnt a gameplay mechanic that can be applied to any situation, you're going to have create a set of limiting rules before you even begin.

games like fear (and even timeshift) had time manipulation that you could in theroy be used for puzzles, combat, or navigation etc etc (fear only really used it for combat), and that's because they're fairly generic time powers, ones used in tons of games already (slow, stop, rewind being the main ones) which is bad in the sense that is doesnt do anything new, but it can at least be applied to the core gameplay.

in singularity however you have this aging aspect, which we've seen put to use on certain environmental objects, but there is no way it is going to effect everything. and for a power such as this, it really should. otherwise you're going to feel like artifical walls are being built around the experience. you can age a specific beam making debris fall on enemies, but you can't do it to all beams. it's great they're playing with new ways to manipulate time, but if they dont have a universal use within the gameplay itself. then why bother. it would be like lifting a loose beam in half life with the grav gun, only to run up to another identical loose beam and it being stuck to the ground. it breaks that sense of immersion. and that feeling that you have this power that you can use however you want.

the images to me looked rather cool...watched the vid and wow, it just looked dull and the aging thing looked absolutely lame. This has alot more to prove before I'll even be interested in this.

Reminds me more of Wolfenstein than TimeShift, but then again, both of them are lacking "it".

Pictures looked good, the video in motion just turned me down again.
Hope gameplay is good, but they have some serious issues with the tear framing and frame rate. every time he looked around the screen was cut to pieces.

@mattdamon, so you suggest we pile this thread up with empty comments?

I must say this looks fairly generic to me. The Aging tech could be a USP, but I fear like others it will feel limited and be very restricted in its use.

I agree with blue_eagle44, screens looked nice but in motion it looks like shizer, really flickery, clunky and generally weak.

Not interested. I am absolutely sick of these dark, post-apocalyptic looking games. Developers seem to get one idea for a generation and every other developer has to copy it over and over again. Jesus, does noone have an original idea. We need more games like Mirror's Edge, that actually take chances and think outside the box.

I imagine this game will tank sales-wise. It may do alright via rental though.

Couldn't agree more. The question is Mirror's Edge sales were bad so EA wasn't really rewarded for taking the risk... I bought it, so I fought my share of the battle!
