Xbox 360

Microsoft released this new video of Ninja Gaiden 2 as a very bloody christmas gift, we missed it by a day but there it is :)

Not impressed. Man, they really set the bar visually last-gen but this doesn't look impressive at all. No self-shadowing, linear gameplay, same unsettling camera, ugh. Improve something, don't just give me more blood.

Music kicks ass though, I believe it's a remixed theme from NG1?

I'm sorry, but the day I care about 'Self Shadowing' during an action game is the day I chew off my own toenails in a frenzied bid to top myself. I don't know quite what you mean by 'linear gameplay' either, unless you're upset about the fact that killing enemies head on is the focus, rather than, say, finding giant pillars to drop on their heads.

I'm more disappointed by the fact that there's been no mention of storyline nor any cutscenes shown - anyone who was into Ninja Gaiden can see that there's a lot more happening in this than there ever was before. Suicidal enemies, finishing moves, three times the amount of opponents facing you at once, weapons that are certainly different from the old NG ones, dismemberment which changes your enemies' attacks, and highly stylised blood effects - let's be honest here, nothing says 'dead' like cutting someone in half.

Even if you're talking about the graphics by themselves, try actually comparing them to Ninja Gaiden Black - the difference will probably surprise you.

Don't take this as a personal attack by the way, I just don't get the problem. From what we've seen of the game so far, it's better in every way.

Looks good but I'm not getting my hopes up since Microsoft's involved now. You can bet they're going to turn this series into mass market, overhyped garbage by NG3. They have no other action game, so what's to stop them?

Team Ninja really need to improve the graphics for Ninja Gaiden 2 since it doesn't look that much better then Ninja Gaiden 1.

The graphics are a bit too cartoony for my tastes, but I guess it's just how it's supposed to look.

My problem is the difficulity level. It seems way easier to kill the enemies. The hard fights in NG1 made me play through the whole game, while this looks like some kind of Diablo so far...

Can't see Itagaki letting them ruin one of his best games.

I agree that self shadowing wouldn't be of much use in this game, other than in cutscsnes, as its too fast to appreciate it anyway.

Music was awesome though.

the music was the highlight in this video. Gfx are meeh and gameplay looks a bit too easy. I hope this is the start of the game and fights get harder throughout. These guys aren't even trying to block any of Ryu's attacks. Oh well, it wil probably kick ass anyway so i'm not that worried.

They already have self-shadowing in the cutscenes. ;)

anyway, Sigma had self-shadows and it wasn't even that noticeable during gameplay. Besides, I doubt videos and screens will do this game any justice.

It looks alarmingly much like you can just run up to the enemies and hack em to bits. Hope it will be more challenging than it looks in the movie.

SAME ^^

People Team Ninja have said they are maken the Best game they can / GAMEPLAY & at the end add as much FX as they can...... Its better than maken the game look great to start with and have to cut the crap out of the game at the end to make it run good

P.S God i would hate this gameto be 30fps YUKKK

AA x 4 is part of the gfx...and Ninja Gaiden on Xbox had the same gameplay and same gfx as this one, so that makes this one basically just like an addon/expansion with new levels and new monsters. Everything else looks the same (same animations, same gfx) its bullshit because the first one was so good.

NG Xbox didn't have 4xAA, and no, it doesn't look as good or the same as NG2.
The animations are only 30% complete as of the TGS demo.

Just wait to be playing this game in your home, and then you can say everithing you want, but i say now, that this game is gona be the best action game of all the live of the 360 and ps3, until NG3 :P
And wait to see a vid with better cality, and using all the posibilities of Hayabusa, because if you played NG1, you maybe notice that he is not using the shurikens, and any great combo.

Team Ninja is still hidding many things.

I never the got the impression that the enemies put up much of a defense considering that I didn't hear any weapons colliding during battles. You could have only hoped to kill an enemy that easily in the first game. The enemies were relentless and even the pawns could kill you in small numbers when your health meter was threatened.

Obviously you dont play Ninja Gaiden 1 of xbox, because the sound of weapons colliding when the enemies are defending is very usual. If you are talking of this video, dont worry is for sure that team ninja is hidding things, like i say before.

How do you know what mode they are playing on? Could be Ninja Dog or something.

If your worried about the enemies being to easy. Don't be. If past NG's are anything to go by the enemies will rip you a new ass on the harder modes.

What a bunch of WRONG assumptions are being made here.

First of all, the game is not coming out in "late winter 2008" like someone else said here. If the huge marketing efforts with all these videos wasn't enough of a hint, it has been hinted that the game is coming out VERY soon.

The game's difficulty will only go UP, this is coming from the main man, Itagaki.

NG on Xbox does not look like this for the most part, play it and see why. BUT I will say this, the graphics are totally a disappointment. I've seen the excuses before, they have always been pathetic. Forza 2 doesn't have a rendered interior and whatever else comes with that......."who cares, as long as the car looks badass".........the trees look awful......."who cares, I'll be driving"...........NG2 doesn't have self shadowing, "it's too fast to notice anyways"........

Come on, what a bunch of bull. And then my favorite, "remember the game is running at 60fps!"...........Yeah, and so was NG and still looked better than 99% of all Xbox games. Like someone else here said, TN disappointed this generation in the graphics department, the sad thing is that Itagaki things their games looks unbelievable anyways. Even sadder is the fact that he is never told the truth during an interview, or even hinted at. In other words, these "journalists" are a bunch of ass lickers.

wow, it only took one post for someone to bitch about the graphics. well done. GET OVER IT. ffs......

I do agree with Lebato though that Itagaki should have been told in an interview or something to change the visual style or something of NG 2, but that's not gonna happen. Time to move on people.
