The only thing that bothers me about this footage is that the guards seem to notice you way too easily, which makes the stealth aspect look poor. If you're sniping someone from far off, they shouldn't immediately know your location.

Good stealth requires multiple levels of AI awareness, not just 'totally oblivious' and 'totally aware'. Oh well, game otherwise looks very impressive and I'll be getting it in any case.

so you will pass on a great game because it's colors could be brighter. go play Lemmings then.

I HATED this about the first Far Cry. Really, really annoying.

Five comments in and not really a good thing to say for this?

I was never really that interested in this game, but now I am. It's looking excellent, and the main things you want in a FPS are present. I'm loving the look and feel of the weapons, and the sound they make is so satisfying and crisp. Looks as if you'll actually enjoy using each individual gun. Graphics are extremely impressive for a console shooter. Comparisons will be drawn against Crysis, but my money is on this for being the better gaming experience. Hopefully there will be a co-op.

Like FarCryInstincts, its obviously one of the gen's best looking games, but then again for me it looks like zero fun.

Its partly the open environments...
Its strange to explain, but e.g. the missions aren't as challenging as for example in halo which is very "non-open-environmental"
In Halo and other fps, the level-designer force you to use approriate vehicles and weapons which makes the gameplay very varied.
In FC2 it'll be: "Snipe some of the guards, toss few grenades and charge" over and over again, because its the most effective method and you can use it anytime. Becomes boring quickly...

I also miss music. I know its hard for this type of game to use music properly since it never knows when you stealth or seriously kick some ass. (0pen environment again)

UbiSoft Montreal makes the same mistakes they did in FCInstincts which ended up beeing (imo) a pretty shitty game. Unfortunately I'm not graphic-whore enough to blindeye myself...

What exactly does Crysis do that this game doesn`t ?. If this game runs so well on a console, then is this a sign that Crysis could be heading our way too perhaps?.

REDNECK: how the hell does them forcing you to use weapons and use certain paths "more varied" ... open world is inherintly "more varied" because you choose what you do...

if its unvaried its because your one of those people that play open games repeatedly the same its like playing soul caliber iv and oly using the X button... if you play and kill some guys using a sniper rifle a few times drop it and grab a hang glider to attack the next location...

stop trying to rush through the game ya the uzi can kill everyone but whats the fun in that? just like oblivion could be beating in 10 hours doesnt mean it was fun for that person.

Just play your own music with in game soundtracks, if you're on 360...

this is the problem i have with the game too. if you cant play it how you want to play it due to the AI then there really isnt much point in this open world setting, they may as well just strap a machinegun to you and put you in a corridoor shooter.

i've seen footage of the player sniping an anemy in the leg, which attracts guard so you can snipe them, which is pretty cool. but it seem the moment you kill one of them outright they know exactly where you are, will all jump in jeeps, and come kill you. if you was hidden in a bush sniping people they should be in a state of confusion...unless of course these enemy's are bionically enhanced or something.

the lack of music is also a little wieird. its all very well saying "just play your own" but there really should be some in there in the first place. even if its just a quiet background track. the complete silence is a bit strange imo.

its definately a game im going to rent tho, beyond those issues i think it looks great.

I have reason to believe that this is the PS3 version in action, because of the 960 lines of horizontal resolution (indicating 960x1080, a PS3-native resolution), and the overall smooth motion of the analog sticks (the PS3's analog sticks have less resistance than those of the 360).

This video takes place deep in the jungle and with the sun setting. Try playing the game in broad daylight out in the open, and it'll prolly look a lot more vibrant (if not more colorful).

What they should do is implement something like the old addage "never shoot twice".

In real life, it's very hard to tell where a hidden shooter is from a single shot, but the more he fires the gun, the more accurately you can tell where the shots are coming from. They should just make it so that successive shots enable the enemy AI to narrow down your position, *unless* you move across the map in-between each shot (which you would obviously have to do very stealthily as the enemies would be more alert).

This would make the sniping both more realistic and more fun. As it is now, sniper rifles are a one-shot gimmic.

dude it will be the 360 version as thats the only one they keep showing off as its probably the console version thats most furthest along in its developement.

And who the hell counts the lines of a dodgy streamed vid? and as for 1080 being native to the ps3? the ps3 is capable of 1080resolution..just like the 360 is, but it will only be the native resolution if the developers decide on it..which with this game isnt very likely on either console... i'd cross your fingers for it to actually be even 720p on the ps3

What he means when he belives it is the PS3 version, is that due to the lack of an upscaler on the ps3, if you want to display your game on a 1080p signal, you need to either allocate a 1920x1080 render target (which is huge), or use a 'ps3 native' format with horizontal scaling.
A format such as 960x1080 (which is almost exactly the same number of pixels as 1280x720, it doesn't require you to allocate that huge buffer. Although your pixels are then 2x wide which looks pretty damn ugly).

Now I'm really torn whether to get the PC version. This 360 version just looks stable enough for me to get and not worry about instead of tinkering with having to optimise for my gaming rig. Although, hopefully it's not as badly optimised as Crysis was, because even with the best graphics card, still would get 25-30 FPS.

This is the PS3 version. I didn't "count the lines" of a "dodgy streaming vid." I measured the amount of aliasing (i.e., jaggies) on the vertical edges of the 720p .wmv video that I DOWNLOADED (imagine that). This is very likely the PS3 version you're looking at because it appears to be running at a resolution of 960x1080 (as evidenced by the noticeable vertical edge aliasing), which is also ~12% more pixels in total than the XB360 version running at native 720p.
