I don't want to say anything about this quite yet though...it could turn out good i guess but i don't have any high hopes. Also i don't like this "freedom" they are talking about. Your only mission is to hunt down an arms dealer? So you just run around randomly in a huge world hoping to find him or what? Are there missions you can take along the way? I wonder.

Since I can run crysis well on my laptop, Ill prob get it on pc...
Kill Arms dealer's henchmen.
Mysterious sexy half-naked sidekick appears (who actually works for the government).
Kill Arm's dealer.
Betrayed by sidekick (to get you closer to the real bad guy).
Kill bad guy win game.
And 50km^2 are not that much, that are just about 7x7 km. Anyone remember "Just Cause"? It featured a world of 1024 km^2 (or 32x32km) also free to go where you want (even on the first xbox).
And also lol at 7GB photos. My Brother shoots about the same on a two weeks trip.
Looks a little brown and bloomy for my tastes, and I'm not sure about the developer skill, but I'll keep watching.

I used a calculator too ;)
You see, what you did is find the square root of 2,500. In that case, you get 50x50.
That ~7.1 number you got is the actual root for 50km².
But still, 50km² is plenty for a game. Knowing that you will most likely stay on foot, and also the fact that you will usually have to follow paths and can't jump around mountains (Yes, they do have mountains in Africa.) It will take around 3 hours to travel the map. That's on foot.
It's not like the map is empty and you're going from one side to the other at 60 km/h...
Here's a figure taken from another website: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7753/50518907tr...
Should be self explanatory. ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squared
50 km² = 50² = 50*50 = 2,500
√2,500 = 50... etc.
Must of been sleepy and not thinking straight. I can't believe simple math turned into this. Sorry about that. Hah.
