UBISOFT® TAKES FAR CRY TO THE STONE AGE IN FAR CRY® PRIMAL

SAN FRANCISCO — October 6, 2015 — Today, Ubisoft® announced the development of Far Cry® Primal, the next exciting chapter in the critically acclaimed Far Cry franchise, set during the savage Stone Age. Far Cry Primal hits shelves worldwide on February 23, 2016 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One. The game will also ship on Windows PC in March 2016.

Developed by Ubisoft Montréal in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai Studio and Ubisoft Kiev Studio, Far Cry Primal is a full-fledged single player experience that will take gamers to 10,000 BC in history to a time when massive beasts like the woolly mammoth and sabretooth tiger ruled the Earth.

The award-winning franchise that stormed the tropics and climbed the Himalayas now brings its innovative open world sandbox gameplay to a time when humans were not at the top of the food chain but were fighting to climb it, bringing together massive beasts, breathtaking environments and unpredictable savage encounters.

Gamers play as TAKKAR, a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group. Arriving in the majestic and savage land of Oros, players will pursue one single goal; survive in a world where humans are the prey. They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild. Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. Along the way, they will have to hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators, craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros.

“The interesting thing about Far Cry is that it’s flexible. So when a team proposed to explore the idea of a Far Cry taking place during the Stone Age, we just said ‘let’s hear it!’ And the more we heard about it, the more we realized how much of a damn good idea it actually was,” said Dan Hay, executive producer, Ubisoft.

“The Stone Age is the perfect setting for a Far Cry game,” said Jean-Christophe Guyot, creative director, Ubisoft. “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself.”

Shitty choice of music for the trailer.

I am not that interested in it, could change when i see gameplay, but so far, nope.

Also, this reminded me of one movie... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J73aDZuAx2I lol

I would not mind having a fresh map+story and the same mechanics. If it ain't broken..
Far Cry 3 was successful but very cliche on the tropical island.
Nepal was a fresh environment, and they try something new again.

Hopefully the PC release will go smooth this time.
Latest engine that got patched up for Far Cry 4, not studio Kiev (thank god) and an extra 3 months bughunting (1 month later is obviously a dummy timespan, just to get the message accross)

Reminds me of that awful movie B.C. I was hoping to see dinosaurs instead. Not scratching it out but not that excited either. Need to see more, have my doubts.

I was hoping for dino's too. Without them i can't say i care too much. I know it's just going to be a typical ubisoft game.

boring as hell i would imagine...unless they go further RPG, or offer some new twist.

Farcry is one of those franchises where there doesn't seem to be any coherent link between the games other than the name...something you only really see in the gaming medium. Why not invest in a new IP...and offer some focus to an existing one?

Next year year of the stone-age then

Already another full priced FC game? I thought they would release instead a low budget title, much like Blood Dragon.

Also lol - PRE-ORDER NOW to receive the Legend of the Mammoth Mission Pack

You guys realize dino's and humans haven't lived in an overlapping period right? Why would you expect dino's? I guess they could always fudge it and put them in, but I'm not sure why you were expecting them.

I hope they put some serious work into optimization this time around. The last two games have looked great but they run like trash even on high end hardware. Stuttery, occasionally sluggish, etc.

Becasue dino's are cool. No other reason really. If i'm going to be throwing spears at something i want them to be cool at least. Wolly mammoth? So not cool. Lol.

Plus i guess B.C's no show on the original xbox bummed me out and it would be cool to see something similar. I think i'll have to settle for robot dino's in horizon. Plus wild looks to be doing this thing already, and i'm more interested in that.

Well I'd much rather see Dinosaurs, however they may have to unrealistically fit those in, maybe with a slight sci fi element only at the beginning. Also, I will not buy unless it has co op. I love SP games for when I want to play on my own, but I have a gaming buddy every weekend for the past few years and online co op is important to us.

Horrible concept for this game. I hate games where we need to kill, fight animals. They are seriously running out of ideas, good game design. If it ain't broke don't fix it. FC is a great IP and IMO best FPS but with this one they are taking it to wrong direction. They could simply make another IP by same team instead of making FC game.

Hang on.... you're saying they are running out of ideas because they aren't doing more of the same?

Yes they are running out of ideas when they simply decide to stick a game with FC name to it. This should be a completely new IP but seems tobe horrible spin off. I cannot see anything interesting in it. I guess it is a RPG game now or just a open world survivor game. FC probably the best FPS series around and they are ruining it with this one

Putting the FarCry name on it has got nothing to do with "running out of ideas".

Again, if they were running out of ideas they'd be doing exactly what you want, which more of the same. But they aren't. They are doing something different.

You don't have to like it. Not everything is for you.
