Ubisoft is full of content today for Far Cry: Primal with no less than 3 videos and new screenshots. The publisher reveals the Beast Master feature from the game which allows you to tame wild beasts such as wolves or sabretooth tigers and use them as weapons. You will also find inside details about the Digital and Collector's Editions. The title is set to release on February 23rd but those attending PlayStation Experience in San Francisco this weekend will be able to try the game at the Ubisoft booth.

FAR CRY® PRIMAL UNLEASHES THE BEAST MASTER

San Francisco — December 3, 2015 — Today, Ubisoft® revealed Beast Master, a new feature empowering players to tame predators they find in the open world and use them as weapons. From wolves to sabretooth tigers to cave bears, and yes, even the honey badger, players will be able to summon these animals at any moment and use them as they like, from taking down their enemy, scouting the area or acting as a distraction during battle and hunts. With these animals at the player’s side, there will be many opportunities to fight enemies to take back control of Oros.

The latest installment of the critically acclaimed Far Cry franchise will hit stores on February 23, 2016, on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One and will release on March 1 for Windows PC.

Additionally, Ubisoft has announced the Far Cry Primal Deluxe Edition with SteelBook for customers in North America.

When it was announced i was kinda expecting it to be an open world survival game but its just Far Cry with no guns and no vehicles. Its a shame considering how all the ''survival'' games out there come from these small devs and are basically budget titles, wouldve been nice to see a big publisher tackle this genre but nope....

Also ''Press square to tame'' lol ..........soo badass -_-

Taming in ARK is much more interesting and actually requires some work. This looks decent, especially after watching gameplay walkthrough 1, but it's not what everyone wants. People have wanted to see a Far Cry game with dinosaurs ever since that tech demo was shown way back before the first Far Cry game ever released. We've never gotten it to this day...

I loved Blood Dragon the best Far Cry ever. it had the best weapons, story and dialogues in Far Cry series. Oh man that cut scenes where brilliant... i hope someday they make it's squeal.
Primal doesn't seem bad gameplay wise it look like The Shangri-La missions in Far Cry 4.

It's an interesting concept, and it actually looks fairly decent, despite the lack of guns, and they're obviously making it as accessible as possible with the taming aspect. This whole trend of pressing a button to win seriously needs to fuck off already. Hopefully they make it a lot more challenging and a bit more complicated to tame more powerful animals as you progress instead of just throwing down some meat and holding a button in for two seconds, and voilà, you've got an instant death machine by your side. Taming in this should be one of the biggest gameplay elements to work on, setting traps, making lures, etc. It should require work for the reward. That would make you actually concerned or worried for your pets in battle, instead of it dying and you just going "meh, I'll tame another one in two seconds".

The lack of guns obviously won't appeal to the CoD generation with this one, so they're going to have to work hard to make it as engaging as possible. Hopefully it'll encourage some proper depth with the design. You could imagine what a Turok game would be like with this kind of gameplay design.

I think the whole "command animals" thing seems like a boring cop-out.

A more hardcore stone age survival game would have me more excited.

You could be right. Although I don't think the idea of it being in there is a cop-out, I just think how the implement it could very well be. As I said, just pressing a button in for 3 seconds to "own" your own killing machine is weak shit indeed. No doubt these creatures will be in certain areas in abundance too. The thing is, I wonder if they'll even make these creatures something to be feared? I mean, just walking up to them and being able to throw something down to distract them, then command them, won't make for very tense scenarios.

I think it's a cop-out in that while it might seem like it's providing some fresh new game-play function unique to the setting it actually really isn't. If anything it just feels like a crutch for them to do this setting.

I also generally find the whole commanding A.I. mechanic is generally pretty boring. The only times I can think of it really working is in the hardcore tactical shooters.

Aside from reminding me of Zeno Clash, I was more excited to hear Chelsea Wolfe in a videogame trailer. Good taste!

Looks interesting. I hope the world is big, didnt seem too large when they zoomed out. Mabye the lack of vehicles or moving around quick makes it seem larger. Or maybe it wasn't zoomed out the all the way.
