The actual demo is really drab, and looks worse than PES 2008.

pes graphics looks even bad if the game would come out on ps2.
I never go of demos really always wait for the full game before i say anything..

Not to start a flamewar or anything... (:
Its still pretty wierd, that no matter how far graphics advance (so far), they STILL dont look human.. I mean yeah you can recognize Rooney etc by their faces now in this generation, but they still look wierd, unhuman, made-of-wax?
I'm absolutely convinced that it is possible to create lifelike humans in a game with todays shaders, its just a matter of finding that magical perfect shader, that they still havent found.
Then again, it might always look wierd until they get sub-surface scattering to work in realtime.
Se777eN yes it is just a demo, but if you've been playing games for 11 years or more, you'd know like i do, that what you see in a demo is always what you get in the full game. The differences are almost always very very small. (obviously no talking about content, but rather the gameplay etc)
If you hated the demo, you WILL hate the full game.
Why take a chance and pay full-price for a game that might suck, when you can find out for sure by just trying a FREE demo? :)
But back on topic, great as the demo is, these are serious bullshots with a zillion AA passes on them. If the edges looked anything like that in game I'd be a happy bunny, but they don't.
You're telling me that Joe Cole turns incredibly slowly in real life? Or that Ballack takes about 3 seconds to pass a ball? Just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean their knowledge of football is inferior to yours.
Most of it is an accurate reflection of real football but at the end of the day, it just wasn't that fun to play for me. PES might seem a bit too arcadey for some, but I find it far more enjoyable.
Doesn't mean I'm not going to buy FIFA though, because I still might.
likeing the pics by the way..thanks

Sometimes demos become graphically downgraded to fix framerate...
Oh and I think that the gameplay is too slow.
And I also can't pass accurate. Maybe I am just too used to the PES controls.
*cough* Ronaldinho not european *cough*

I can understand if people prefer PES, as they just fancy a pick up and play experience that takes little skill to master, but with this game, you have to understand the game more, and think more along the lines of real football. The pace is much slower, but you also get more time and space on the ball, it's only when you try to get past the defenses in Fifa 09 when it becomes difficult, as it should. You simply can't walk or run round them like in PES, which may be people's frustrations in this game.
As for people talking smack on response times and sluggishness in this game, well, I'm sorry to put it this bluntly, but they are talking shit. I've had the ball a dozen times in a crowded midfield with skillful players like Ronaldinho and Kaka, and the better I got with practice, the more I felt at ease on the ball in these situations and did the right thing. Now I don't feel as threatened on the ball when crowded simply because I feel in total control of the player, and can use the left trigger with the right stick and roll the ball around or trick my way into a little bit of space, and if a defender is pressing on me, the passing is so instant, it's never a worry. In fact, the passing is amazingly responsive when using close control. Obviously some people are trying to pass when holding the run button down constantly like the do in PES, but if you try that in real life, your pass will never be as accurate or responsive. You'll always be stretching as the ball is under less control. When playing this demo, start at the very easiest difficulty, then work your way up.
I can promise you that if you just chill and adapt to the play with the way I've mentioned, you'll start to realize just what a complete gem this game is shaping up to be. Already the shooting and ball mechanics are above and beyond anything seen in PES, and probably will be seen. Just striking that ball and willing it to hit the top corner after watching it start out wide of the post, then suddenly take a wicked curve at the last second and bend into the top corner past a stretching keeper is breathtaking to say the least. There's going to be some incredible goals scored in this game when it's released.
Just because people criticise the game, they don't understand football? Give me a flipping break. It is a very accurate simulation of football, but not in all areas. Heading is realistic, tackling is realistic, shooting is realistic and passing is (sometimes) realistic. But the tricks aren't (not everyone is Ronaldinho) and are, for the most part, useless. Not only that, the dribbling in general is pretty unrealistic. I'm not even hating on the game because, as I've played it more and more, I have started to love it. Honestly.
But you need to making excuses about the turning and lack of responsiveness, because you're defending the undefendable.
You don't have to believe that I play football and I don't particularly care if you do or not. It's up to you. All I can say is that I am not so childish that I would back up my points with false crap. I do play football and I do have a season ticket for Chelsea FC and watch them every week. Like I said, you don't have to believe me.
I don't even hate the game and, if you read the impressions thread on the main forum page (which I recommend), you'll see that I have grown to love the demo the more I have played it. All I am saying is that the dribbling is not very realistic in my opinion. Practically everything else is realistic and it feels like an authentic football simulation. Although, if I'm being picky, the running animations look a bit silly. Then again, the running animations in PES are even worse.
So overall, I have been impressed by the FIFA 09 demo as I have played it more and more. Add to the fact that it isn't even the latest build (which is apparently much more responsive and less slugglish) and all the modes that will be available in the game, and there's no doubt I'm excited for FIFA 09.
