Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

The demo of FIFA 12 was finally released today on Xbox 360 and PC. PS3 players will have to be a bit more patient as it will only appear on PSN tomorrow. To ease the wait, here is a video of the 360 version we managed to capture quickly during our lunch break. We did not have much time to get used to the game's new features so don't expect anything great here.
Update: PC video added.

I'm loving it, trying to learn the new defends system. Timing is a lot more important. No more pushing B and A all the time. :p

New defending is fantastic, but I absolutely love the precision dribbling; it adds so much to attacking play.

Don't really get that precision dribbling. What is different when compared to the other games?

after playing FIFA and PES(2nd demo) demos

PES is more responsive, smooth and has a better flow

FIFA is sluggish, congested and AI are a bunch of time wasting retards(passing sideways for 20mins at 0-0!). the new defense system is great for MP and the precision dribbling is nice but i need to master it before i can fully appreciate it i think. 3min halves doesnt help

Finally, Messi plays like Messi, not some weak kid with the agility of a fatboy like he was in FIFA 09/10/11

How you have managed to deduce that PES is the more responsive game and Fifa the more sluggish game from that demo is beyond me. If anything, all that recent PES demo is, is just a sped up version of the first demo, albeit with slightly (and I stress slightly) more responsive controls. That is it. Keepers also seem to be a bit better, but the game is some way behind Fifa now. Even all this talk of this so called revolutionary AI in PES was bollox. Just hype. It needs a reboot, not life support.

How .
my biggest problem with FIFA is that AI is the same every match, every team plays like barca (keep possession for ages) and AI rarely makes mistakes which is retarded. and if they do make mistakes it takes them 5 mins of passing it around which bores the shit out of the player.

and then you do get the ball and passes takes 5 mins to reach destination which allows the AI to close ANY gap there might have been. want to move the ball around quickly to push players out of possession? tough luck, FIFA doesnt let you

FIFA is like a soulless game. bunch of great tech put together and it has become a mess. FIFA09 was better then 10/11/12. but this is just the demo with 3 min halves (so retarded) so i will wait till i get the full game, i was close to not buying it (for the 1st time ever since i buy both footy games every year no matter what) but i will

it was the only FIFA game that had me playing for the whole year. in that game goals werent predictable and the AI wasnt a retard machine :|

EA seem to think high difficulty should mean AI keeping the ball for 30mins and never making mistakes. i wish there was a "realistic" difficulty setting where weaker teams make more mistakes (offense and defense) and leave more gaps. in the demo who ever i play against it feels like i am playing against Barcelona the way they move the ball and their players doing skills and always pressing me and never giving me space.

FIFA doesnt have the feeling of "i can score at any time" anymore and thats one big thing that PES has over them

Basically, everything about the AI in PES now is a myth. It's all I've been hearing. "The AI in PES is so much superior." "Teams play like the real teams in PES. Fifa AI is soooooo boring." It's rubbish. True, the AI in Fifa 11 was a bit wank. It got repetitive quickly, and the AI did stupid shit like not punishing your mistakes. But the AI of the individual players in Fifa 12 is so much better, so much so, that teams often play like human controlled opposition when it's on legendary. Now that is all you can ask for in a football game as far as a challenge goes. This myth (and it is a myth) of teams all playing unique football akin to the real world teams is currently impossible in sports games today. Football has too many variables for the current generation of hardware to handle. The fact that the time of a video game is only roughly about 15 minutes at the most per half means that it is impossible for the real world pattern of the sport to be replicated. You need to score goals, and for goals to be scored, sure, the AI needs to be somewhat retarded to make mistakes and punish accordingly. It's all about a balance for the game to be playable within the sweet spot of that time frame. AI in a football game is more or less just dictated by a few variables: how strict the CPU is in front of the net when taking chances, speed of attack, frequency and speed of passing, and reading of your pattern of play, ie, how much the CPU wants to cheat you when defending. Unfortunately, human-like awareness and decision making or thinking isn't possible yet. I've played both demos, and from what I've seen, PES 12 still offers nothing that the first PS2 games didn't do better. In fact, they are still better. Progress? I don't think so.

It's nothing to do with saying anything bad. It's quiet simply being realistic. Those of us who loved PES were expecting greatness when the first exclusive was revealed for the 360 some 6 years ago. Instead we've been fed nothing but bullshit and botched attempts which don't even match up to last gen efforts. Go figure.

Fifa seems to have went full sim this year while PES has gone back to it's arcade roots. I thought PES demo was alot of fun and easy to pick up and play but it feels very dated and seems about 4 years behind other sports games, Fifa was hard especially on World Class and Legendary.

Fifa will lose alot of sales this year as the casuals will move over to PES.

Just one question. Why 60 fps? There's no difference in quality between 60 and 30 fps, but my PC can't play your 60fps videos in HD. And my two mediapayers can't.

So, why?

@MrWhite

But in FIFA they play one way, pass pass pass do some skill to stop me getting the ball pass pass then they try to do something. its boring as fuck. they pass the ball around for 10minutes before they TRY to do something, thats not a good game

and also PES may not have futuristic AI but it has better AI then FIFA thats for sure, as i actually have fun playing against AI and they allow me chances and space like in real football... i am not pressured 24/7. and in PES AI have scored loads of goals against me so far in the demo (thats maybe cause its 10min match compared to FIFA12 6min match)

in PES i can play normal, in FIFA i feel like i am forced to play the FIFA way to be successful, which is using the trick stick all the time and using cheap tactics. in PES i can play like actual teams and be successful, in FIFA you cant cause its so congested and you have to do retarded tricks to keep the ball

Just tried the PES demo for the first time. I agree that the AI is a lot more grounded and realistic but, apart from that, it feels pretty terrible to play.

It's like you're controlling an rusty robot most of the time.

yeah, i'll also stick to FIFA

Pro Evo feels so much like arcade soccer... scoring goals in the same way over and over again and the stupid ai doesn't care

@GangStarr: I partly agree with you. Fifa 09 is the ONLY football game I've really played in career mode. 10 & 11 just left me after a few matches because AI definitely sucks (keeping the ball, passing behind, never running and just protecting the ball...).
However I have to say that this kind of game is NOT defined to be played alone. Playing against AI, PES is definitely better. But 95% of my time spent on FIFA is playing with friends (the remaining 5% is playing online in ranked matches...). It'd be just like buying Street Fighter IV just for Arcade Mode.
I think that if you want to really play football, and dive as deep as possible into football, FIFA is the game. If you want to play simple, just for fun, with friends who are not used to play football games, PES it is. It usually takes me around one month to learn to score correctly in FIFA. And this year it'll probably take me even longer due to this new defense system. This is why I prefer FIFA: there are more choices, more possibilities, more freedom. Now when I play PES I feel like imprisoned, with my players on rails, boring duels and easy long distance shots. My first goal in PES 2011 was a 25 - 30m shoot with Cristiano Ronaldo. My first long distance goal in FIFA 11 was after two or three weeks spent training...
