Xbox 360 PS3

Electronic Arts released this new video of Fight Night Round 4, showing the game graphics. Quite a lot to say considering how impressive this game looks, and as usual now the video runs at 60 images per second, except for the stream.

Call me picky, but I'm not that impressed with Ali's likeness at all. there are certain expressions that man used to pull during fights that they just haven't captured here.

Whether that's down to technology limitations or just sheer laziness (with EA, probably the latter), it just doesn't quite cut it.

The characters also look more cartoony than FN3, which admittedly, blew me away at launch, but got boring quickly (traded mine in for Forza 2 - never looked back).

Oh well. Bring on PS4/XBOX720/Shiiit...

I can totally see that being a selling point for the PS4. Ali's face... looks exactly the same as on PS3, only this time he pulls a slightly more accurate expression.

Never saw that coming...

:o)

@DDRMidian

A selling point for the PS4 would be that it actually ends up being what they said it would be in the first place. That would be good enough.

All that talk from Sony execs about real-time ray-tracing and meshes from film assets being able to be loaded in realtime. Complete bollocks.

let's not make this a sony-didn't-deliver-what-it-promised-discussion about a console which has been released for over 2 years now.

Isn't that the case with every new piece of hardware though? I mean, really. If you believe every piece of info released from PR people rather than using your brain then you deserve to be disappointed :)

Oh, please! I'm not EA's biggest fan in the world, but for Christs sake give them some credit. Lately they deserve it. Lazy? They are anything but these days and are actually working hard on their sports games. They built a whole new engine for this game to take advantage of the consoles. What the fuck else do you want? And do explain to me how something can look more realistic, yet according to your expert eye, look more cartoonish? Makes no sense at all.

By the way, I'm not having a go. But I just can't understand why people just can't be impressed by what is a visually stunning looking title from EA. Nothing else looks as good as far as the type of genre goes.

I want blood. :o)

FN4 might be looking good, but you can't define Tiger Woods as EA *working hard on their sports games*, can you? TW09 looks the same as it's ancestors. No improvement at all (with 08 a complete step back, ie broken). I'm an all or nothing kind of guy, that's all. Either do it properly or not at all.

I admit, they've done pretty good with this.

@megido

Don't worry. I wasn't taken in by the hype, or dissappointed (I had no intention of buying one). I just wish they'd quit with such crap.

@Trebuta

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to...

Tiger Woods is the acception, but then again they are constantly milking it with yearly releases and the fact that it is endorsed by the highest paid sports personality on the planet, so the pressure on on for them to get a game out annually. I agree, TW needs a major overhaul, but it's golf and there's only so many ways you can fry a goat. There's not much to work with in terms of actual physics, with only the ball to affect. However, I think 10 is taking a more sim appraoch. Regardless, I loathed EA as a company in the past, but this gen they are redeeming themselves with their sports games and some other titles.

This or UFC, this or UFC, this or UFC...
lol i cant decide :(

I really liked the UFC demo, but on the other hand FN4 has real physics collision detection deformation blahblah whatever :)
I do enjoy UFC more than Boxing though. Meh, release a FN4 demo already.

Personally I'd watch UFC a hundred times before boxing... when it comes to games, however, Fight Night is looking to be the way to go- the UFC demo wasn't close to responsive or fluid enough for me, although they have a good start...

I'm pretty sure the UFC game has something like this...at least as far as arms interacting with arms/legs go.

Agreed. It was quite difficult to get some of the moves working properly. Felt awkward.

But yeah, I'd take UFC over boxing anyday.

I just hope they fix the animations, cause in part 3 it looked lame as hell while playing...the graphics were great and everything but there was no force in the blows at all.

Looks great, what's more impressive than the graphics are the physics, everthing's dynamic.

The physics and general animations look great but.... look when they use the analogue stick to dodge.. The entire friggin torso sways around like it weighs nothing, that alone sorta ruins the immersion imo :)
There should be some delay, some "sluggishness" when dodging, not insta-dodge like that.

Then people would complain of it being too sluggish when playing it.

I know what you mean, but i'm pretty sure they made it that way for the sake of gameplay. Sluggish blocking would be annoying I think.

nah, it just means you have to read their playstyle.
That would be much more strategic than just having lightning reaction.
