Damn! Impressive art .... It's gonna be very hard to resist buying this if the combat is crap like FF12. I may buy it just for the brilliant art and hopefully the great story.

Crap like FFXII? XII was the best Final Fantasy gameplay wise ever. No random encounters, no waiting for crap to start and no little "this is how much crap you got" screen when you win. FFXII was awesome for a jrpg :P

To each their own. I didnt like it, doesnt mean everyone shouldnt :D It was too much of a hands off approach and I didnt like that.

Anyway, let's get back to FF13 ... FF12 is a thing of the past now.

The thing i love best for once is that the heroin is the one to bring death and destruction to a recluse colony.

CG is amazingly done, heh, of course, they were payed big big big bucks to create the FF movie that allowed them to be trained extensively by the best.

I hope we will get a big big ending. In my memories the FFVIII ending was more than 10 minutes long, loved that.

Agree. Didn't like it either. Even more disapointing was the story. Hope that will be done a lot better in XIII.
'Till now it looks absolutely fabulous, very great design, as always in FF games. But I want the flair and athmosphere of a FF6 or 7. Those where the best FF games ever. I doubt this will reach that level...

I agree 100% FFXII had an amazing combat system if you used it right.

It isnt about using it right... its about enjoying it or not. I personally didnt like it a bit. Automatic combat inputs are MMORPGS way, not FF way.

Suil: Or you could stop being so backwards and realize that a change in a game isn't bad just because it's different from what you are used to. I almost admire FFXII for daring to make an attempt at revitalizing the moldy old snes formula japanese rpgs are still being wrought in. I mean, the Japanese market is pretty conservative. Sure if you gave it a honest chance and didn't like it that's fine but don't go putting it down just cause "it's not what ff is usually like!". That's just stupid.

Well, I didnt say it was "bad", I just said that it isnt my cup of tea. I played FF XII from the beginning till the end and I also played for a long time FFXI. In my opinion the gameplay of FFXII was too similar to FFXI (in fact the game was too similar to FFXI in too many aspects), and I was willing to play an experience similar to the solo games FFI to X were... and not a remix from the ideas of those and the Mmorpg that was XI.

Glad some1 did enjoy it though. For me it was an "ok" game and a major letdown to the series. But again, thats just my personal opinion :p

I HATE the word "generic" honestly.
First it was "emo" and now the word "generic".
I never use generic. When I want to explain something about something I don't like about a game, "generic" is the last word I will use for a describtion.

And no, this games characters is not "generic" :S

Yeah right, i'll believe that when i see it running on my tv. Last i heard Square had severe problems even getting their White Engine to run properly on the PS3, let alone produce this kind of quality in realtime. Get real, these probably aren't even target renders.

HHmm I though SE said that they were CGI renders...

It's only possible on PS3 because SE want it that way ;)

I like the way Versus is looking, probably won't like the gameplay though if its anything like Kingdom Hearts.

Well thats your opinion innit, personally I am with Alimo on this one, I don't want to see another MMO style combat engine in a single player FF game again thanks.

Really though, in my eyes the combat system in 12 took the regular system, cut all the crap out (like selecting attack over and over, random encounters and so forth) and well...the differens is not huge but it makes the game progress so much smoother. Instead of selecting your commands every turn you just make gambits that take care of it for you. Or rather you just don't have to input the same thing over and over.

I Like the FF12 combat system. I dont see why many people hate it; it's a step forward.

Anyway I'll have to get another ps3 when this game comes out.

Yea and in effect it like playing with AI, as the computer does the fighting for you, after 15 hours it became boring, you could sit back and do nothing and still win in most cases.
