Mmm, well, It looks a little bit better than PES2008 but I think the game don´t need more in term of graphics. I hope to see a nice gameplay, new moves and possibilities

yeah, the gameplay has deteriorated in the previous 3 releases of PES.. and on the 360 fifa is really catching up on pes. I hope they will make this one the best of the series so far. but the only thing we can do now it wait.

Hopefully some gameplay is forthcoming, that was where they were letting themselves down.

sure i read that they was gonna build a new engine for the next one and that meant they might not release one in this time, but looks like they not bothering ,PES08 was a broken game,it needs rebuilding and is it me or do the issues you have with the last version just get worse in the next.

The Player-focused shots look really decent.
On the contraire, the field and crowd shots ( gameplay-view shots ) look quite plain and uninspired.

Looks good, but why aren't the crowds looking at the action? And why are they all bunched in rows like Roman soldiers? I've been to a few football matches, and very rarely do people sit down and stare into space...

So lazy.

I read this too! sure Seabass or whatever his name is said it.

A game from scratch would take longer though obviously... guess we'll have to wait and see

Is it confirmed... no Spanish league?
Betrayal... now that they "have won" the Euro08, and all :)

No, he didn't say they were going to rebuild the engine. He said that they were "going to back to the drawing board", meaning that they are going to re-think the way they create the game.

Looks great so far and i'm looking so forward to Pes 09, just like every Pes. ;)

Finnaly players look recognizable lol

this looks pretty good, and probably looks stunning in montion. Still bit flat on texture side, but I don't mind. I hope we get all the great Edit features for players, teams etc. And PLEASE sort out online multiplayer, its a joke compared to Fifa08.

Well I also bought Fifa as well as Pes ... except, I traded it in and still play Pes. :D

Don't get me wrong, it was good and actually was better than Pes in a lot of aspects. However, it wasn't in the most important department of all - gameplay. Even though it was one of the weakest in the series, it still has better gameplay than Fifa. Although Fifa looks more realistic, its gameplay is ridiculous at times. Although it is considered 'Fifa 08.5', their Euro 2008 game was significantly better. Given I only played the demo, I was very impressed with what I played. The facts are though, that I still don't find it that fun to play - especially when compared to Pes.

If Pes can match Fifa in graphics, presentation and the amount of features/modes, it will successfully retain its football crown. Of course the gameplay needs tweaking as well, and they need to ensure a smooth online mode. In terms of what i've seen so far (i.e. those screenshots), it looks significantly better than last year's. Of course, I will need to be seeing some gameplay footage. ;)

Looks no better than PES 08, and they seem to have stuck with the PES 08 GUI too (see the screenshot with the 'be a pro' rip off) - I'm really not looking forward to this, if it's anything like the last version.

PES 08 just wasn't realistic - you could easily run past players without using any skill, and the pitches seemed far too small.

what annoys me is that these pics just look the same as pes 2008 and the actual game looked nothing like anything shown in video or screenshots prior to release,so i would not even worry about these shots.

Konami better:

Fix the damn, terrible, horrid online gameplay (Aka LAG Festival)
Add more features and gameplay modes.
Improve the Online Lobby.
Get more licences.

Or Fifa will kick the heck of this franchise really soon. If it wasn't for the superior gameplay (offline) it'd get FIFA every day of the week.

What other gameplay modes do you wish to see? Add a Captain Tsubasa mode? Or Animal Mode? :/
As for the licenses, not really needed. You can always patch the game yourself.

The pro mode in Fifa08 is awsome, wish they had a small Story Mode based on that where you start in a low devision club, building your reputation, getting offers from clubs etc. Kinda like Football Superstars (www.footballsuperstars.com)

Allot of cool stuff can be done, and since PES doesn't have many licenses they should do cool modes like that to attract casual players.

i am optimistic over this one. i think konami does learn from there mistakes...im looking forward to this!!!! (Man i say this all the time)

Fifa is moving in the right direction SLOWLY MIND YOU

but agree pes 2009 needs to hit a 40yarder in top corner (fix the game)

It looks as if it's still stuck in its PS2 roots - tellingly so in the stadium and atmosphere. But what I hope comes back is the gameplay from PES of old. FIFA 08 grew on me last year. PES 2009 will have to do a lot to bring me back into the fold.

Well, if they have said that Pes 09 will reaffirm their superity, they must be pretty confident that what they're making is darn good.

Konami are getting very lazy
That pretty much sums everything up.

The good news is once FIFA starts dominating again THEN Konami will work very hard to catch up to them and make awesome PES games....Then get lazy after a 3- or 4 masterpiece releases, let FIFA go past them, then catch up to them again etc....The cycle will never end.

Which I'm okay with since EA is doing much better than Konami this gen football games wise though I like it much more when Konami is making the better football game.
