Xbox 360 PS3

As a way to prove how realistic Fight Night Round 4 can be Electronic Arts did an AI fight between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao in the game. The real fight will happen tomorrow in Las Vegas, but we can already see it via these images and video.
Update: A 720p 60fps version is up. We used our brand new reencoding system for this one, so all versions except the stream are running at 60 fps.

Okay. Am I the only one who thinks that the graphics in these screenshots look "cartoonish"?

Yeah, they have this caricature look to them. But the game looks abosolutely stunning in motion. Someday we will have a openworld game where every single character is this detailed.

Very impressive. Especially the precision of collisions.

What's friggin' sweet is how the flesh on their faces moves about even when they aren't being punched! Awesome!...

I say 10, maximum.

And I don't think they look cartoonish, I think they're starting to look like Pixar people. Like Hatton in pic 3.

EA have something against Hatton. Every vid they've shown of fightnight has him getting beat on.

I really hope Hatton wins tomorrow.. the brits are the kings of boxing these days, and Hatton too good to not keep his place in that.

Erm, Pixar is cartoonish, lol! And I think it will only be 5 years before openworld games will have all (or at the very least most) characters as detailed as this. :D

the game looks amazing, but yes, they look very strange. they only have a SLIGHT resemblence to who their suposed to be, and they just look exagerated, and as paz_Q said, kinda caricature-ish.

this gen open world caracters look as good as two players fighting games of previous gen, so i think next consoles will deliver this quality for caracters in open world games. For exemple Niko Bellic looks better than a tekken 5 PS2 character.

As for FN4, the way the muscles flex is really amazing, looks almost real.
And the face deformation at 37sec is as good. Can't way to play the demo

10 years time I wonder if we will have these 3rd person fighters, I'm hoping we see a decent first person fighter soon.

For that you'd need the Wii with monstrous hardware plus one huge trackball on which you'd stand.

@FNR4:
simply awesome...
will the demo have online mp?!

yeah, but its only in these shots. Otherwise they look the opposite. But, thats what faces really look like when they get punched... So.. its not THAT farfetched. It is exagerated, but just enough so that you can actually notice it.

Well so much for being the "kings of boxing these days". The Pac Man is simply untouchable and is not just a class above Hatton ever was, but several classes above him. I like Hatton, but he was just an overrated fighter and fuck me, did it show.

As for this game, it's stunning looking and up there the best looking titles this gen. In fact, as a game showing two main characters on screen, nothing comes close. Animations too stiff? What?! Cartoonish? Some people are never satisfied. Well done EA.

LMAO! EA predicted the end of the fight! It was pretty close to the real thing, even the finishing blow looked exactly the same except with the left hand in the real fight. They were way off with the round though and Ricky Hatton getting up and getting a standing count out.

If you could reduce them to 2 people in a small square area surrounded by X amount of far less detailed characters then they probably could.

I think it's possible to see characters as detaild as these in a open world game in ten years time. Maybe even on the next-generation.

Ready 2 rumble boxing, released 1999 was absolutely stunning in its time:

9 years later Assassins Creed came out:

It's purely a visual thing. Had they based the models directly on the actual size of the real fighters, perhaps they'd come across as being too scrawny for the game. This isn't Gran Turismo where models have to be faithfully accurate. When a boxer is punched, their faces don't distort that much either, but again it's a aesthetic element to a game that's exaggerated because it looks good. Then again, I never really prided EA for accurate character models anyway. Well certainly not in their sport's franchises. You only need to look at the Fifa games over the past few years of proof of that, although 09 is an improvement.
