Shortly after the release of GT5, it was no surprise to see that Microsoft took the opportunity to announce Forza Motorsport 4 at the VGA yesterday. Not much to see though, except for this short trailer containing live footage only but we can assume Turn 10 will include dirt, snowy and wet tracks this time. Maybe even snakes and cows! We've also added the packshot of the game, nothing too flashy as you will see.
Update: Four images added.

The models are damn sexy, the proof will be whether they can get them into race mode.

No, those are more like photomode locations like in GT5, with very high LOD model. But then, if there is the same lighting ingame, this will be a huge upgrade ! Now looks photorealistic.

Definitely some improvement on the lighting engine. But more important is what we can expect: Day/night cycles seems to be a given. I hope for some weather, dirt, Rally and open wheel cars.

See, here is what i don't really get...why are the graphics so goddamn important in a sim? Sure, nice graphics are a plus but shouldn't accurate simulation be the most important bit? Seems like that part always gets pushed to the side and the fanboys and graphics nuts start brawling :P

That's a bit ironic YOU not caring about graphics in THIS game, since you're a graphics artist and were berating another game here for having shitty textures.

What's the only change that happens in racing games generation to generation? Graphics and physics, that's it, so even a non-graphics whore as myself can appreciate why people deem those appropriate topics to go crazy about. Plus, Forza and GT are console exclusives, so that's another reason to argue about with console wars. My Ferrari F50 looks better than yours!

Well, my career choice aside, i can still look at games from other perspectives you know. As for the animal game, it just looked sloppy. In this case i think it's more important to keep the simulation as accurate as possible rather than spending the resources on making it look pretty. If i had the choice, as a gamer, i'd rather drive a purple box around the track if it handles just like an XJ220 and i got accurate simulation of environments as compared to rain, one bazillion poly cars witk 8k maps and night-time tracks. It's a sim, and what i'm after is essentially the driving experience.

Obviously i'm in the minority here.

Forza 4 has to appeal to the masses and you can't do that with poor graphics.

Every scene with the Ford GT in this trailer is from in-game, it is not all live action. Do you guys even watch the trailers before writing about them?

I'd hardly call one super high-res model perfectly lit with environment consisting of a plane and skydome in-game...rendered in real-time perhaps, but hardlt in-game :P

It's not not in-game and most of what the trailer shows is live action. I did watch the video before but I'm not enough of a fanboy to claim the trailer is showing in-game sequences. You know what, why don't you open your own site, write your own news article and just leave? Such idiotic comments do not help, mind you.

Very mature response you have there and yes the footage with the Ford GT is in-game...... You can see the menu during the trailer.

Your original comment on the article is wrong, "except for this short trailer containing live footage only" which is obviously not true. I've been coming to this site for years and have high respect for it but I never thought I would see such a immature comment by any of the staff.

You can keep saying it is wrong but it won't make much of a difference, and just because it is you, there is no way I will change anything in the article. But yeah talking about maturity, you clearly are the man to point out that I wrote "only" and not "mostly". :D

Like I said, if you're not happy with our work, there are many good websites out there to welcome you. I don't have time to lose with people like who who can only bitch about the silliest little details and can't appreciate what we are doing here. :)

We are thinking of naming the site Immaturityde, which is why you feel so grown up all of a sudden. Yeah, I took the time to watch and put the trailer on line, on Sunday, when I should probably have been enjoying a nice time at home. And I did not think calling the Ford GT sequence in-game would be appropriate given what it is. I did not appreciate your tone and accusing us of not watching the trailer we put on line beforehand was just disrespectful of our work to say the least.

Do not ask me to treat you otherwise then. But in the future, spare me the "I did not think I would see so much immaturity in the staff" speech, it's just as ridiculous as your original comment. People like you never realize how much effort and time we put to keep this site alive, they never say thank you because they probably consider that we owe you everything. People like you are however the first to point out that we are not doing a good job for whatever lame reason you can find. I think I gave you another reason to hate us, you can leave in peace. :p

I guess your perfect and can never take criticism or strive to be better at what you do? What a joke.

I didn't accuse you of being bad at your job I just said that you were wrong with your comment in the description you wrote.

So your waiting for people to find one thing wrong with a single article you write and just tell them to leave? I come to this website because it is the best gaming video website that offers the best quality videos in the fastest amount of time. Its just sad to see you would act like a child because of a little criticism. I think its funny that you would tell a loyal member of 5 years to just leave because of a small comment, I have recommended this website so much to other people its insane.

PS. I'm such a fanboy that I own GT5 and I'm currently playing it. Also while were at it how did you get tone from a sentence written in text? Any tone you thought you received was fabricated by you and no one else.

In-game model, photomode, same as all the GT5 screenshots we have received.... Also I didn't know CGI had ailising.....

While I'm at it, here is a screen cap from the trailer showing a in-game menu. Remind me again, does CGI have in-game menus?

Strange how some of you are taking this as something that the 360 can pull off. If this game goes full kinect, then this is possible, eliminating all physics and driving mechanics. essentialy makeing this game on rails. But if you look at the library of 360 games, none of them look even close to this. This is a smoke and mirror PR ploy. This is a CGI created just for this one cutscene and in no way represents actual gameplay.

Sure it's not the best simulation physics-wise to get but Forza 3 was one of the best although it's a console exclusive with an amazing amount of customization etc.

You have played forza 3 right? You have seen the menus right?
You have seen the high poly models being rendered in realtime IN those menus right? You did see the version of what was shown at E3 right? You do realise it was realtime there right?

I'm sorry, but at least do a little research before you troll. FM4 won't be a kinect only title and it won't be on rails. Maybe this FEATURE will have kinect support, but anything else would be a huge step backwards and would kill the franchise.

The fact that it is endorsed by top gear should give you a clue as to how serious it is being taken. I expect them to improve the physics, i expect them to utilise the high res models in game, i expect them to have a unified lighting engine to allow for day/night cycles. Anything else and I will do the same as i did with FM3 and wait till it's £18 before "upgrading". But to write it off completely here and now shows how very short sighted and single minded the trolls can be, we haven't even seen the game yet.

I think you have forgoten all the tricks and deception turn 10 pulled before the release of forza 3. Not saying Forza is a bad game, it just more fuel for the smoke and mirror hype game just like before. And the menus in forza 3 look nothing like this, nor does any other game on any platform. Only possible in a CGI movie. maybe in another 10 years when holo tech is out, but not now.

What are u on about? I'm talking about the 10 secs of the ford GT which is completely possible in real time, i've seen better stuff rendered on the pc. The rest of the video is real video footage of actual races which im completely ignoring and you should be too, exactly the same way I ignored it when polyphony did the same shit.

I remember the stuff that T10 did before FM3's launch which I was very critical of at the time, and I am waiting to see the game run before i draw any conclusions, but to say the ford GT footage is impossible is rediculous. I mean u can see the aliasing and the lighting is nowhere near CG quality.

That is a joke right?

If a game looks like this in 10 years it had better be a joke.

You can clearly tell this is from the new photomode feature, no one said it will look this good while racing. This is entirely possible to look this good as it is only displaying a single car model.

sheeeesh is everybody synchronizing their periods here or something? calm down people..it's only a game.

Would of liked to of seen gameplay in this trailer. I hope to god it's not going to be another microsoft rush job to get out titles for next year (like crackdown 2, fable 3, this year). T10 usually offer alot of care in their products though.

What worrys me is that we all know from E3 that they'll be pushing kinect with this..a sim is NEVER going to work holding your arms out. Thats why i hope its not a rush job..as i'd much rather them spend their time bringing quality tracks, more cars, and expanding the online (to work day one).. also having shift animations this time day 1 would be nice too - tired of games sold to us that haven't been finished (GT5 i'm still looking at you)

Once again the Ford GT in this trailer is a in-game asset, Turn 10 Studios is now twice the size of Polyphony so don't be put off that they don't take as much time to develop.

Kinect is only a option it will not be the main focus of Forza Motorsport 4.
