Developer Diary Xbox 360

The incredible Bugatti Veyron will be in Forza Motorsport 3, and Turn 10 decided to release an almost 5 minutes long video showing how the car was integrated into the game.

Very nice how much? Wonder how many clunkers you'd have to cash in for one of those! *rimshot*

Still looks a tad unrealistic in the lighting department, but still looks quite impressive. A bit of a shame that there will be no shifting animations at all, but in general I am excited for the release. Should pass the time while I'm waiting for GT5.

I agree lighting isn't great, but the level of attention to detail is astounding!

the new gameplay footage from PAX on gametrailers was a huge letdown.. showing Forza 3 looking adverage at best - and no, this isnt sarcasim. Graphics arent everything but when developers set themselves up by claiming they've the prettiest racer this gen..any flaws in that are going to be instantly jumped on.

Too true. Even though I like Forza better than GT. You're right. But I play games, mostly, for the gameplay and not how pretty it looks. And no-one can say Forza 1 & 2 didn't play better than any GT before or ofter them.

thats true.. its not the greatest quality. But then shift, dirt, GT5, all had simular quality footage taken of them and all impressed me personally visually more than the F3 footage.

Like i said, they've set themselves up with gloating about how amazing it looks.. so footage like on GT is always going to be jumped on. It doesnt help that the games a month away and they've only been showing screenshots of it in its picture mode.

Ofcourse none of this has any standing on the gameplay.. which like dargris49 said has always offered more.

Er...yes they can, it's personal preference. I'm not a fanboy of either, I love both the Forza and GT series to bits.

I remember the good old days when a racing sim was announced and everyone was talking about all the new cool physics features they would include to make the racing more realistic.

Now everyone talks about trees and jaggies and whatever graphics features that are missing (skillfully ignoring the ones that ARE there)... Makes me sad how sad gaming has become :(

...But then I remember that Forza 3 is released next month and I will get to enjoy all the awesomeness for myself :D

People posting here are unreal. While I think the new Vette footage at GT isn't that great (because I don't like the lighting at all), this game is still hugely impressive in every other way and footage that's been shown.

It really is way more than just a car simulation, anyone even cared about the huge feature set and interegration of the community? I'm quite sure this is the standard following games will be judged with, just as much as any fps after Halo 2 was judged by its high standard.

I found the GT gameplay video shown a while ago really disappointing; The bonnet reflections were fucking awful, the avenue with all the identical trees just looked plain tacky. I just couldn't be impressed with it. All the comments on that thread were like 'BEST GRAPHICS EVA!!!' and 'ZOMFG', etc.

Has everyone got blinkers on?

I don't care if I get flamed for this, I think it's about time people stopped following games blindly based on their heritage, and started using some fucking intellect for a change.

Sorry, just been down the pub. :o)

No kidding...I think this game looks great, and I'm a PS fanboy...The crash physics from the GameTrailers video is impressive, the weight of the car and the ricochet appears damned near perfect. The modeling is very impressive, too, but I agree with some earlier posters that the lighting isn't *quite* right, and to me, makes this car look a bit more plastic and kinda cheaper than it really is. But if I could play this, I wouldn't care about the graphics, I would care about game play, physics and the other things the loss of which you and I lament.

That's the problem with previews: all you get is the graphics and (sometimes) sound. This means that the most immediate judgment people make about a game will be its graphics, everything else comes second. Like here's a good question: does anyone understand how the progression/car upgrades are going to work? In a game like this, with a lot of cars and customization, that can be more important then whether the rocks in the background look like they're from cartoons or not (which they do; too rounded, not enough texture ;0 ).

You have to understand though, some sites do not have the same quality in their videos as others do. The gametrailers video is so extremely compressed all the little details that an hd game would provide dissapear. If you want to judge pax footage then only Giantbomb's or Gamespot's footage are up to snuff, gametrailers makes it look like FM2.

Forza 2 was far superior to GTP in terms of physics and overall gameplay. I'm not sure how much will change for GT5, but as of right now I will always be looking forward to Forza so much simply b/c it offers the most rich and detailed driving experience on consoles. When you skid, hit another car, hit some grass, over correct, etc... all those little things feel far more realistic in Forza than any other console racer.

If you have assists on then the difference between GT and Forza is pretty slim. I think GT series has better looking lighting and car models, while the Forza 3 game has better looking environments and the intrerior has better textures and details. But they both look good and neither one looks better to a degree that it is easy to overlook gameplay, which is what almost every fanboy on these threads seems to be doing.

Don't get me wrong now. I'm gonna buy GT5 day one for sure. It will be a great game, but anyone trying to bash on Forza simply seems to be showing their lack of appreciation for the best physics on any console.

Just my opinion. But I do agree with the comment that is was quite stupid of the turn 10 guy to call Forza 3 the best looking racing game on consoles. I'm guessing it was a MS idea, but still should have been much better worded.

How can anyone pick holes in the way this game looks? Honestly. It baffles me. You all talk like you all know your shit from an artistic standpoint, but if half of you were put to the task yourselves, you wouldn't have the first clue of whats what from an artistic direction. This game looks fucking incredible, and when T10 stated back at E3 that this was the best looking racer out there, I didn't really believe them. But you know what, after looking at this video, I do now. The attention to detail on those cars is second to none.

Oh yeah....That's right...Being able to paint is the only way you can judge if a painting is good, right? Or being a musician is the only way to be able to judge if music is good? So the same must be true of video games.... I think taking part in something called "reality" is the only thing you really need to know if you're going to judge whether or not graphics are "realistic." (The same argument applies to people who think you can only judge if the physics are realistic is if you are a professional race car driver or something. Living gives you an intuitive sense of physics, like that a 3000 pound object traveling at 100mph requires a great deal of force to stop.)

BTW, I do praise the graphical achievements of Turn 10 here--but to ignore the faults of the graphics engine is as foolish as it is to ignore its excellent quality.

no i do understand that streams are of different qualitys. I've already said at the top of this post that its not the greatest quality. But also understand that these guys let their game be shown at that quality.. GT isnt Youtube.. they have permission for all thats shown on the site. Also the quality of the streams no different from the quality they showed other pax games.. which seemed to fair better.
