Weren't these some of the first screenshots released? I'm 100% sure we've seen these before as I remember a developer mentioning that tessellation wasn't used on the hills.

Pic4 looks real but pic3 the hills look artificial. Textures are too high no way it is going to look like this on consoles

Apart from the 4th image, am I the only one thinking that somehow the visuals are a bit toned down from the ones previously released? I've seen a similar image of picture 3 with the tanks and hills, and it looked better than that. Possibly DX10 or 9 mode there? Oh, and that scope in pic 2 seriously needs a couple of more polys to at least getting it a bit round looking. That's somewhat ridiculous looking and a bit N64'ish.

Bf2 was released in 2005, so was Xbox 360. Do you think a 2005 PC could run BF3?

Granted we haven't seen proper console footage, these six year old machines still have games that look brilliant and I doubt BF3 will be an exception.

yea, I noticed that too, but come on, The game looks great and I doubt DICE are doing that for the hell of or because their idiots.

I wish people stop obsessing of the tech of games. It's how the tech is used that makes a game look great.

I think that's overstating it. CGI couldn't do that yet. And I can't imagine the xbox version will look that good.

this is disappointing only because i am still running on four year old hardware (Dual Core, 9800 gtx (x2)) and though it has lasted me this long for almost every game including the newest crysis I know I wont run this game at its full potential. hell i couldn't run Crysis at its max settings but that didn't matter to me like it will matter here, because the battlefield series is what made me start and love PC gaming. really sucks being recently unemployed i was hoping to save up for a new computer before this came out. oh well, guess its the Ps3 version for me :/

If your PC can run it as well as the PS3 (not saying it can, but if it could)--why would it matter if you couldn't max it out?

The dual core could be a big issue though.. it was in Bad Company 2. I still think you should try the beta out in September before committing to a console version.

Thats not only ridiculous but rather insane statement.

You do realize how much money $$$ its going to take to run just that one single game versus a console that can run all its own games library.

Further: The game has not even been released and tested by real gamers yet, we don't even know how it will "really" run maxed out and with all the features PC games love to use as braggadocio ie AA/AF

This comment makes it seem like you somehow won't be able to then run every other PC game by being able to run BF3.

mostly because my computer has been having issues running and loading games, even if my specs are well above the recommended settings such as Left 4 Dead. I have that maxed out and my computer has been loading it mega slow. maybe I have a virus on my computer idk, whatever is wrong with it though is beyond my knowledge of computers and in the end I will have to spend money fixing it somehow.

the Ps3 version will be most the practical version for me now considering my job situation, as at least I can still get a smooth experience even if it is not at its peak performance. regardless of which version i get at launch, I still plan on getting a new PC anywhere before the end of January, and this will definitely be the first game on the list to buy for that new PC.

Some of us have played it. It ran awesome on higher end machines, and I suspect pretty well on older specs. I should try it on my other PC (C2D/4870) just to see how it runs when the beta drops. And even though assets were missing in the alpha, it also looked ridiculously good too. Hopefully performance holds up when the player count doubles. But regardless.. not every machine needs to run it maxed out. The baseline performance (and visuals) should be pretty dang good. It was already pretty promising, especially looking back at the Bad Company 2 beta. That game came a long way from beta to retail in a relatively short time.

Believe it or not, maximum settings are not actually meant for the bulk of the PC audience.

They're definitely on the same page. I think BF3 looked better than Crysis 2 already in the alpha though.
