Boxers don't tend to look too pretty, even the good ones.

Yeah it does sport a more cartoon look initially when compared to fight night round 3 - especially noticable if you play one straight after the other. But when you start to pay attention to all the realistic details that have gone into the models in FNR4 it starts to really impress in its leap up in visuals. All the muscles flex, and facial expressions constantly change. Its also 60fps now so the animation looks alot smoother and the overall games alot faster - and alot more tatical actually, over 3.

Also the crowd and ring sides great too.. with everybody reacting spot on to the action, and lots of nice little details in there.

Thankfully they've also worked harder on the commentary...although they have that guy with the scar down his face who's completely void of all personality..terry atlace?

Really looking forward to this hitting.. could of done with more brittish boxers in there..considering we've been holding alot of the titles the past few years.. they've only just got round to putting Calzaghe in ffs who held his super middle-weight belt for what 10years?

I wish they would've got Calzaghe's likeness down better, it doesn't look very much like hime.

I find the gameplay too slow and chunky.

didn't liked the demo at all, but I guess its a must-have for boxing-fans...

After playing the demo I must say, at least for me, FNR3 is still superior.

I think a big part of FNR3 looking more "realistic" is because of the slightly monochromatic coloring. The colors in this really pop and make it look more cartoony, IMO. In real life there is much more tinting of color( for lack of a better word). Of course, everyone would complain about lack of color the other way...

i prefer the slightly more colourful look, rather that superimposing ugly brown filters and then damaging the IQ like codemasters do with GRID. a bit of colour increases the visual appeal in games as long as it does not look to garish. fnr4 looks fine and its 60fps unless i'm wrong

The demo was with a different weight class thats why it took longer...i used to play heavyweight alot on number 3 :) so will wait till i get some of that action to pass judgement.

my brother is a HUGE fnr3 fan, and said that after the demo he thinks this game is better in every way.

Says the gameplay is far more deep due to the speed and style factor.

Yeah the demo didn't impress me either. Sure the technical things sound amazing but 60fps or the animations are too smooth for my taste.
After I had been playing the demo for quite some time I went back to play FN3 because imho it's more realistic than FNR4 even with more 'robotic' animations.
But at the moment I'm almost only playing UFC undisputed which has a more strategical aspect to it than both FNRs. Garphicswise it's way behind FNR4 but for me it looks more life-like than the comic faces of FNR4....

I'm actually really unimpressed with the graphics of this game. Screenshots the game looks great. In motion it's a mess. The animation and collition detection are horrible and detract from the graphics. Punches look like fairy punches, and the reaction of the player getting hit is about 2 secs to late. Is it so hard to make the punches look weighty? Still has the same core problem as FN3.

Dissapointed.

Controls are quite hard, i suppose you'd get used to them eventually.

Graphics look vgood and phyiscs are alot better then fnr3.

But in these pics, the characters look more like charactcatures even.

The demo i played of hatton etc, didn't look as extreme as these.

I thought the Fight Night Round 4 demo was technically amazing, superb, silky-smooth graphics and stunning presentation and atmosphere made it look just like the real thing. Well except for the stiff dodging animation which is still there from Round 3.

Shame though that it's boxing, a genre that I find gets dull quickly, and that the controls, which rely predominantly on the right analogue stick, are so hard to use. No more were the controller issues apparent than in the tutorial where, despite being shown exactly what I had to do, I still couldn't get the moves right. Like Round 3, the use of the right analogue stick for the moves feels unnatural and I much prefer to use the shoulder and face buttons to be honest.

yeah some of them are spot on.. some look abit off. Have to wait till its in motion to really see if they got him.

I was unlucky enough to play prizefighter the other day..which basically stars him. Looks nothing like him, and is so slow and unresponsive. Man that was a bad game

Honeslty, what are you even talking about here? PES? FNR3 more realistic? One of the daftest posts I've read on here.

The colors and textures make the boxers look cartoony imo. Nobody's that orange and clean-cut in real life.

Not all of em, but a few. And its not as extreme as a lot of people are making out, its actually kind of nice, from the incredibly bland look of the last game. A game can live to have some style.

If the cartoonier look wasn't accompanied by the improved physics, particle effects, and muscle flexion, I'd be a bit disappointed. Luckily, all of that stuff is there and looks great.

My only beef is that haymakers seem a lot less intuitive to pull off. It made sense in FNR3 to kind of wind back and throw it forward hard with the analog stick. Now, the RB modifier just doesn't seem as good.
