PS3

Namco-Bandai releases a new video of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, with more than two minutes of combat gameplay. Visually, it's true that we've never seen a cel-shaded game looking (and moving) that good.

This game is ownage on a Blu Ray disc and an example of why DBZ needs to fall in the hands of people who know how to ring it true to the anime.

Really glad that the team tried to innovate on the fighting mechanics, and not just revamp an HD version of the 2D PS2 Games - Yhea, DBZ:BLimit, i'm look at you!
( those, that were already good and more complex that the Gamecube Titles ).

I just hope it's as fun, engaging and open, as it seems in footage.
( The technical poweress of Japanese Devs over the westerns when Cell-shading is the subject, really shows! )

The Lack of footage from an world hub RPG-Like Leaf village, to spend time between the missions, ... is kinda disturbing. Don't this title has it?

I'm having trouble editing my post, but HOLY F-ing GOD.. this looks so fricking good. It's like the anime is actually controlled by the player. O.O

If I have to be honest: >>in my opinion<< this beats every game out there graphic wise, since it looks SO well done. The explosions, animations, EVERYTHING looks straight from a class-a anime movie.

I strongly believe that Chopin dream had a better Cel-shaded graphic

it's not just about the quality ( Textures+amount of polygons ) of the Cell-shading... but the use of all the cool effects and making unbelivable animation to go with it.
In that regard, Eternal Sonata seems a Static Doll House Playground side to side with this title.

Yeah, as it is... it has great potential and seems very appealing, but if it lacks the Sandbox RPG aspect from the 360 title, a great part of that enthusiasm falls flat right there.
What's the point of looking almost like a real Naruto show, if they use the engine just for combat? Seems like a terrible diservice...

the only trouble with these games is you spend more time watching it than actually playing it. Those in game "cut scenes" look impressive now... but after you've pulled off that move and had the scene repeated over a weeks worth of gameplay its going to start to grate.

Also, if its just a beat'em up, then its foolish comparing the graphics to that of an rpg. Ofcourse its going to look nicer..theres much less in it.

Totally agree, ES had better cel shading but the animation was just terrible in some cases, especially how the likes of polka would stand with her arms out to her side like a static doll as you say.

Just watched the gameplay video and I'm impressed.
I have to admit I'd written this game off after the BS shots were exposed by the jaggy in-game one's.
However, I must say the animation looks really fluid and the character model's look really good. The cut-scenes for the special moves also look impressive. The size of the arena looks vast enough and the interaction, such as walking on the water is a nice touch.
Now to the negatives...
The graphics looks really good on the characters but the environments lack any real detail or life.
The button combination for the special moves looks like a rip off from the 360 version and hopefully you can actually counter them, otherwise the fighting isn;t going to be deep enough.
I'm also interested in the other aspects of the game bar the fighting. The adventure and platforming was a huge part of the 360 game, possibily the best part, and the way you could focus chakra to your feet and full off shadow clones was great. I just hope this game has that much depth otherwise it'll look like a poor version of the 360 game rather than have it's own identity.

You've seen one stage. Also, this team created Naruto games prior to this so in all reality Ubisoft copied them with the button combinations.

no, it has a free-roam story mode as well. They go all the way up to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.
But battles aren't the only experiences you'll have with Ultimate Ninja Storm. The primary story mode will feature Konoha village as a primary hub and give players the ability to select missions ranging from battles to mini-games -- even boss fights will be accessible. We were impressed to learn from Matsuyama that the game will loosely follow the events of the first 135 episodes of the anime and touch upon key plot points contained within.
Pretty much sounds like it will be the same as it was in their previous Naruto games on the PS2.

It's about the same as a finishing move in any 2d fighter. If you can stand those, you can easily stand these finishers.

Chances are all the stage's will be the same. Like I said, the attention seems to have all gone into the character model's and animation.
Yes, I know this studio's done Naruto games before, I've played them and they were awful. Ubisoft's offering of Naruto pretty much showed them up and set a new standard for anime game's so this has alot to live upto.
That's most likley why this studio has gone out of it's way to make a Naruto game which is pretty much soley for the US audience. If Ubisoft hadn't released their game then chances are this studio would be making a Shippuuden game and we'd be importing that instead.

Yhea, those adventure parts from their previous titles screamed "kill generic ninja, move on down the path". Pretty bad fillers for the gameplay.
I just wnat to know if the new adventure part is more like that, or more like the ubisoft effort.
We will probably know with new footage...
