PS3

Last video from the Micromania Game Show for today: Resistance, as beautiful as ever. I also want to add that hands-on, it's excellent. I'm not surprised Sony endorsed it as launch killer-app.

So many shades of grey...

This game deffinately looks better running in motion, if you look at the stills, it looks a lot less impressive.

Hmmm 2 games about monsters taking over worlds coming this fall, who will win?

My vote goes for Gears of War.

This has nice graphic but after this video, I don't see why this should stand out from all the other "kill the monsters"-FPS.

Well, as far as I know, Resistance has a strong story (according some journalists that have seen more than just a couple of levels from the game), which I don't think Gears of War will have (it will be more like a mindless blockbuster Hollywood movie than Resistance's story), seeing that it's made by a company that has never had good storylines in their games, whereas Insomniac has already proven they can write great stories.

The PS3 launch games is better than the 360 launch games, but this game is a simple FPS with good graphics and gameplay but it won,t come near GOW.

Actually, the story behind Gears of War was co-written by the Author behind the Halo book series, which if you have read before, his talents can be appreciated. His name is Eric Nylund. If you've noticed how much Microsoft is supporting this title (not only by publishing... but by hiring the best to make the best) then I can't say I'm too worried about GoW's story-line being meh.

You couldn't be further from the truth, GoW has an awesome story line to it supposedly.

I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Well seing trailers from both game you'll see that Epic is pushing for the story in the game. When it comes to prewievs and hands-on they allways hype the game before the release. But the same is with trailers so we just have to wait until the release before judging the Story.

The thing about Gears that makes it stick out from others FPS to me is the coversystem without the requent jumping, the fast cover running, the reloadsystem that is more realistic then other FPS.

RFoM isn't showing me, judging from all the videos, anything that makes it diffrent from others. Yes nice graphic, big scenes and so on but the same run, shoot and reload gamepace. But on the other side, 40 player multiplayer is a very good thing.

You can't just run & shoot in the retail version, as far as I've understood it right. Many gaming sites have said that the game is (in opposite to some demos) really hard and you'll end up dead if you don't find some shelter etc. Of course if there's just one or two enemies, you don't have to fear for your life, but when there's more, then you're screwed if you don't have something to stop the enemy bullets into. And this is just with the more normal enemies. There are other, harder enemies too.

And just because Resistance doesn't have a cool button to press to take shelter doesn't mean you don't have to take shelter from enemy fire. It's not just a mindless, Serious Sam kind of killing fest. It's perhaps faster-paced than GeOW, but that's not to say you can do whatever you like.

Not digging this at all, graphics don't impress me as they used to, I don't know, somewhere along the road the graphics have (to me) been looking duller and duller.
Gameplay doesn't look all that fun either, and there are a lot of annoyances.

I don't know, this game just doesn't cut it for me...

Well maybe so, heard it has some pretty groovy AI. But have you seen the video in this post? No hiding there, just running and shooting. He's strafing around 3 monsters in close range just spraying and the health bar sunk just like a normal "run, shoot, reload"-game. Hardness I don't care about cause i've loads of FPS with impossible , for me, hardlevel.

Well as i said. I judge only from videos before the game is released and the vids from this game isn't giving me a wow but still that doesn't mean it isn't good. You have any links to vids showing of more "good"-things about the game? I want to believe you cause I'm dying for som good FPS right now, tierd of the same shit.

Bioshock > Resistance
Forza > GT

You always seem to be recommending 360 titles over PS3 titles... curious...

Look sonny, if you're trying to "proof" a point here, atleast get your facts straight!
It may come as a huge surprise to you, but there are actually people who are unbiased towards consoles, and look at games, and give credit where credit is due!

I never said Bioshock>Resistance, I said that if the dude wants a FPS that is like no other out there, then Bioshock is the way to go, and I personally do feel it will be a much better game with much more depth to it and will take FPS to another level, but that's my personal opinion.
Also, I thought Bioshock is a PS3, Xbox360, PC title, could be wrong thought?

And if you actually took the fucking effort to read some of my posts on both this site and Xboxyde, you will see I have no console of preference!
It's funny really, over here I'm being accused of being an Xbox fanboy and over Xboxyde I've been accused of being a PS fanboy.

And in that bloody Motorstorm topic I've been extremely positive about Motorstorm, you know why? because I give credit where credit is due!

But indeed, there are also people here that only post here to bash the ps3, and there are also people here who are PS fanboys who can't understand that not all games on the PS3 are good games, just because it's on PS3.

So do yourself a favour and get your facts straight, thank you!

No, I did, because it shows that I'm not just here to "bash" PS3 games.

And thanks for the lesson in grammar, though English isn't my native language, so there's my excuse.

What's your excuse for being so presumptious, narrowminded and completely clueless..?

Such violent protestations... well, I accept that you're not here only to bash PS3.

And, FYI, English isn't my first language either, but I've never used that as excuse to speak/write it improperly.

Well, I try not to get all worked up over people like yourself, but that "ugh" got me going and all the assumptions and unvalid statements along with it didn't help either.

Violant though? Maybe not the most well chosen words here and there, but definitely not violant.

I'm just getting sick of having to explain myself evertime on these bloody sites, which from now on I won't anymore (yeah right!).

Lol, so you have mastered the English language perfectly and you're not even a native Englishman? Well....good for you..!

That "ugh" was a sign of my exasperation over the trolls and fakeboys that infest PS3 forums. But you insist you aren't among these, so there we are...

Not violent in the "threatening physical harm" sense, but vehement, ardent, passionate.

Judging from the Briticism "bloody," I'm guessing you're based out of the UK.

I, however, am not... I'm an American (naturalized). LOL! So you could say I speak a kind of English...

I'm really not impressed with this game, and I havn't been from the start.

The lighting makes everything look flat, the textures are incredibly poor looking even at medium range and I imagine the lack of rumble will make everything feel, well light...

I understand this is more of an arcade type first person shooter in a similar vain to Timesplitters, and in this sense the single player will remain exciting for an hour or so.

Most previews of the game seem to confirm that the multiplayer is more fun.

Yes it's a solid launch title, but I get the feeling if this appeared on the 360 now (against 2nd generation titles) it would get lambasted for being 'yet another generic shooter'...

Personally when I compare this to GRAW, RS:Vegas and GOW it comes up short.

/my own opinion
