Looks pretty sweet. I'm a sucker when it comes to Arkanoid-based games.
Is there a demo?

I don't think it supports custom sound tracks...but for 7.99(US) or 4.99(UK) this game is a must for any PS3 owner.

nope and because of that I'm finding it difficult to make the purchase, for me it's not a question of whether it's good but whether it has legs i.e. will I still be playing it a week from now and a first hand experience will answer this, hopefully next week they'll put A demo out.

Yes you will...it's a score chase...you'll keep seeing your friends scores at the bottom left of the screen and you'll wanna try and beat their score. You'll be score chasing in months to come, go buy this game.

I don't think it does but this game has really superb soundtracks of it's own IMO, some of the best I have heard in a while although I think on principle almost every game should allow custom soundtracks.

Excellent gameplay wise BTW, I downloaded and it seems to have a great deal of content, variety and an almost unlimited number of strategies for breakout fans. A proper reboot of the genre and easily the best of it's kind since the days of Arkanoid.

Also, for anyone on the fence I would say that the videos show pretty much what you are getting albeit with a huge number of variations, it basically plays as good as it seems to from vids if that makes any sense.

Thx for the answers.
Shame, that there is no custom soundtrack but it seems that original soundtrack is quite good.
For now I'm pretty sure I'm buying it.. Hope it's not too short.

Bought it because it was cheap and heard good things about it and I'm very surprised by it's quality.
Very very good and addictive.
Another PSN gem.

I took the plunge and I'd have to say it is awesome so far, potentially the greatest PSN week ever, Fury update and this utter heaven :).

I'm not seeing much originality in the brick layouts, which is what these games are supposed to be about... surely if you've already got something like Ricochet Lost Worlds/Infinity you don't need this?

By that "logic" if you have already got any game in any genre you don't need a sequel, or an update we may as well just stick with Arkanoid.

Ricochet Lost worlds is pretty much a graphically updated Arkanoid and has not much in the way of pushing the break breaking formula. Shatter has plenty of originality in both the brick types and layouts as well as the arena shapes later in the game. The first levels are relatively simple in both layout, shape and brick type.

Ricochet Infinity and BreakQuest did A LOT for the genre.
(you can also see an Aquaball influence in Shatter, with the round levels)

This game looks pretty fun though. I like the boss battles and the music.
Graphics are pretty snazzy too.

I wonder how crappy I would play with an analog stick though... :/

To me, this is a tweaked version of Ricochet: Lost Worlds. I do like the originality with the fragment showering. If you're a breakout/ricochet junkie, this title is definitely for you. The boss battles add a twist to the game.

I'd give this game an 85. (80 for gameplay, and additional 5 because of the soundtrack working well with the game.)
